  • Normal college life...is it possible?

Okay so this weekend, I decided to go visit my friends. I told them I couldn't drink and that was fine with them cuz then I could be the DD. Thats been a blast now for the past few months. But anyways, we went to a club and we were dancing...I started to be in alot of pain. This was new...I've never had this happen.

Well, the pain put an end to my fun girls night out...and I became a wall flower...and a sober one to boot! I'm in a way proud of myself...because a few months ago I wouldn't have been sober...I woul dhave drank and suffered the consequences.

Will I ever be a normal college student again?

    Kelby ~

Your in Haysville right ? Im in Wichita. I know the drinking was very bad for me and it made me pay all night on through the morning. Im married so the girls night out and club nights are not for me. But the occassional friends get together, I dont drink. I dont let that discourage me though, but Im not the college student and I understand how you want to enjoy that time. Have you tried taking some prelief before you drink ? How old are you ? Hope to hear from you soon.

      Hi Allison,
Well, I'm in Hays. I go to FHSU. I'm going to be 22 in 3 weeks. I didn't drink this weekend...but I wanted to really bad. I even bought a beer...but couldn't bring myself to drink it. The thing that bugged me the most was that it hurt to even dance...and thats what I loved the most! Oh well...I'll learn to get through it.

Hi Kelby! I had a relatively "normal" college life once I got my IC under control with Elmiron and the IC diet. I can't say that I missed out on anything -- I had a great time. But don't forget that college doesn't necesarily equal alcohol! You really can have a good time without drinking alcohol. I was never a big drinker anyways, but have cut out all booze since being diagnosed 5 years ago. When I go for a beer with my friends, I'll have a coke instead (I'm usually driving anyways).

        Take care,
        Alexa
