I have enrolled in College!

WEll I took the entrance exam and passed to enroll in college before my IC went bezerk again. I am 45 and going back to school will be a challange to say the least. Much less with IC and my other health issues. I always said when I got my kids raised, it was my turn but IC threw a great big wrench in things. IF my surgery continues to be a success, I am going to follow thru with it and do something I want to do for a change!!! I am hoping and praying that it all works out!!

Good for you [img]smile.gif[/img] I'm 22 and should have graduated by now, but my IC has kept me from attending a few semesters. I will also be going back to my local university to pursue my nursing degree. Do you mind me asking what you are going back to school for? Well I think it is just great that you have the willpower and motivation to take on the task, and I wish you the best of luck.

My bit of advice would be to look into getting support from the Disability Resource Centre at your college. I got so much support from them, and some academic concessions so they might be really helpful to you.

Being an adult student can work to your advantage in some cases. I've taken classes off and on for years, and I've found the professors know that adult students really want to be there learning, so they're much more flexible for us. They know we're not just looking for an excuse to get out of doing the work, like some of the traditional age students. So if you explain to a professor that you may need to leave the classroom ocassionally for a medical reason, most are fine with that.
