thinking about college

I'm thinking of going to college to take the Level 2 Dental Assistant course. It will take about a year and a half. I'm really interested in this course because I want to make a career change. However, I am worried because of my IC. I don't want to let IC interfere with my plans but I'm not sure what to do. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

I say go for it. I was diagnosed right before my last year and that didn't make things any easier but to be honest it made me want it more. I almost didn't go back this last year but I did and I graduated. IC is just part of our lives. Follow your dreams. My dream is still to be a doctor and though it may never happen it's still my dream and I'm keeping it. I will say that IC or not if I had the chance I would jump. Good Luck! You'll make it.

Go for it. My daughter managed to get her RN while raising a 4 & 6 year old, divorcing husband #2 who was addicted to porno and screwing her cousin, driving e/o weekend 300 miles to see her 13 year old son, helping to care for the X husband's mother when she died last summer, working part time, almost loosing her house and ME.....so don't let a little thing like IC stop you from your dream

I would definitely "take the leap." Is there any way that you can start by taking just one course? That would be more IC friendly, less stressful, and would get you back to studying a little bit more gradually.

When I was doing college advising, I usually recommended starting back slowly to anyone who had been out of school for a while. When I first started working on my graduate degree, I took just one course the first semester. Once I had my confidence back, I increased the number of hours that I took.

I can't take the dental assistant course because I can't get financial assistance. Disappointing. I'm looking into other options.
