  • First Cystoscopy any advice?

    So I ask a lot of questions on here because I pretty much have no support and it sucks a whole lot. After almost a week of excruciating vaginal pain I got to see my Uro that whole week I read my IC books and got online info I figured out that the anti-bitotic my Uro had me taking everyday for so many months caused a yeast infection Ive never had one before and it is horrible! I told my Uro this and he thought about it and figured out I was right he gave me 2 pills (1 a day for 2 days)

    I previously posted that I had been passing tissue and blood in my urine I told my Uro about this and he said he wasn't worried and IC was the reason for the bleeding. I told him that I thought I might have an ulcer and suggested a cystoscopy-He thought he already had done one I reminded him as nicely as I could that I hadn't had one.

    He agreed I should have one I asked if the cysto would be done with hydro distention and he said (Ummm Yeah we can do that,) He told me to come back in a week to schedule the Cysto and that I may stay in the hospital overnight if Im having pain.

    So has anyone had a cystoscopy with the hydro distention(Ive seen videos of the procedure where they fill the bladder and such..) But I really want to know does it hurt? How long will it hurt? And should I plan on staying in the hospital?

    Also now im having to go more and very little urine is even coming out and im passing more tissue and blood,This would be easier if my Uro actually paid attention to my concerns

    -Many thanks in advance

    I'm finally 17!!:woohoo::woohoo:

      My doctor's office is approved to do the hydro with distention in his office. I was asleep while it was being done. When I awoke, it did burn to pee for the first few times, but nothing I would describe as "killer" pain or anything. I would describe my pain as not bad at all. By the next day I was pretty much back to normal. This is how it was for me.

      I feel so bad for you to have to go through this at your very young age. You have hardly begun to live yet. But, don't give up and get advice from this site. There are some very nice people here. And, we understand how you feel because we have the same thing.

      It's not my business, but your doctor doesn't sound like he is the best for your condition. Can you change doctors. It might help you to feel better mentally and physically if you had more confidence in your doctor.

      Good luck, and let us know how you made out.

        My Dad had great insurance before he divorced my Mom and got laid off. But that was when I was about 9 I live with my Mom and Step Dad and 2 of my sisters and 2 step sisters. Because we are a low income family I have insurance like through state medi-care and even with that We still have to find ways pay for medication sometimes.

        Im kind of on a personal quest to find a Urologist that will except my insurance my Uro is the supposedly the only Urologist I can be seen by.Ive been running around in circles trying to figure this IC out for a very long time I finally got a Urologist when I started to get kidney stones. So until I find someone to except the crappy insurance I have Im stuck its worse because I sometimes have to wait weeks before I can have medical tests or get medication.
