With time and following the diet, which i know seems daunting, try different combos of meds most people do make it back to leading some sort of life, maybe not the one you planned on but better than where you are at. A lot of us have been where you are now and have progressed. i know it is hard, and patients seems an awful word when this is happening to you but most people do find things that do help improve their quaility of life.

      Rpinion,
I don't really have any advice. I agree with Mothergoose..we just have to be patient. It's VERY Hard especially when you're in pain.
Just wanted to send you a warm *hug*..take care of yourself. Thinking of you

        I understand.

        Hey there,

My name is Molly and I also have I.C. along with other conditions - Fibromyalgia, IBS, Endometriosis and Pelvic Floor Dysfunction. I'm 18 and currently in an online college. I live in Arizona half-time with my family and half-time with my boyfriend's family. I was diagnosed when I was 12 by a Cystoscopy and since then my symptoms have gone up and down, into and out of remission - the past few days have been flaring up, though

I find that when I'm having a bad time with symptoms like yours, drinking alot of water, taking pain medication and muscle relaxants, and resting on my side or my back helps take the edge off. It's really important to stay in control - don't let your symptoms control you! It, too shall pass.

So that's a little background about me, and I'd like to get to know you, too - I feel your pain and I hope to help you - for us to help eachother get through this terrible disease. Hope to hear from you soon
Diagnosed with IC in 2005, since then have been diagnosed with an unspecified autoimmune disease, with inflammation in my bladder, colon, left knee, left ear, left eye, lungs and pericardium. Argh!

I was reading your sig and see you are flaring often. Have you tired cutting out the B-complex, it causes me to flare and I have read it makes other's flare.

I take Vit B-12 but in shot form, and this helps my energy but doesn't bother my bladder.

You are quite young to have to deal with all this. My son was housebound for quite a few years and discovered on line classes and he really likes them. My daughter took at least one on line course per semester while going to University, she doesn't do mornings well and this was a good work around for her, and it also allowed her to take courses other Universities offered that hers did not.

Keep up the good work MG

            Just an update everyone.
I have been living on pyridium, thankfully I found a job doing paper work for a medical doctor, as a doctor he knows how painful IC can be. He allows me to work from home and if I am flaring he allows me to take the time I need to manage. He is a god send and a blessing to me. I know have enough money to buy the groceries and pay for my car insurance and gas. While my boyfriend covers the rent.
My nephrologist is prescribing me pyridium and muscle relaxer, my mother is covering the costs of medicines.
I have had less flares and recently got a FULL paid scholarship to beauty school.
I have been so much better, and very blessed thank you everyone for caring
