  • ed and elmiron

    Hi everybody.
First I want to thank for a very good website.
I have been posting here recntly about my impotence which I am quite sure isdue to my IC, since there are no wrong that the urologists have found. I started elmiron today and I was wondering if any guy really got their erections back after a while on Elmiron?
I just want to know if I can expect any improvement in yhis mather which is very hard for me since I am just 24 years old.

Hi Martin. I'm a doctor, but not a urologist. You may want to post your question on the CPPS forum board. Several uros will respond to your specific question. As far as reversing the impotence, yes it can happen if IC is treated, however, you need to exclude other causes. Chronic pelvec pain syndrome is a complex and poorly understood disorder. There may be many diseases involved, not just IC, for example pundendal intrapment syndrome. I think this IC forum is one of the best health care discussion groups I have ever run across, but the CPPS board may provide more comprehensive help from qualified specialists for your specific problem. These ladies have done an outstanding job at providing information to people who are at a real loss with which way to turn for help. I also applaud your initiative in looking for help. The women on this board may also find some very interesting insight into CPPS. www.chronicprostatitis.com
MD (radiologist, not urologist) This is not intended as medical advice and consultation with your doctor is suggested before any action is taken.

I thought I would point out that on the prostatitis website that Ralph mentioned, there is a new article on IC by Dr. J. Curtis Nickel that might be of interest to IC sufferers.
