  • Interstim Trial

    Hi Everyone,
    This is the first time I have used this board so I'll introduce myself.
    My name is Mike,and am a 67 year old male who has been battling i.c. for the past 5years. Like most of you I have tried just about everything with very little effect on the pain and frequency etc. At the momentI am into my second Interstim trial. The first time a single wire was used but this time two wires are fitted and I have a duel control. I would dearly love to hear from anyone who has had a trial, successful or not to be sure that what I am experiencing is the normal thing and the same as others found.Some things I'd like to know........should the stimulation be felt at the site of the pain i.e.Bladder. Should I feel an improvement straight away, or is it a gradual thing. Does the intensity setting make a big difference to the result. These are all questions you probably think I should be asking my uro.but I would like to know from those who have been through the experience as I dearly hope that this will succeed, but as yet I've not seen any change and I want to make sure that that I do everything I can to give it my best shot. I've got four days left of the trial and would appreciate any helpfull comments from anyone before I see my uro again.

    Have you looked at the Surgery board? There are several people who post regularly here who have interstims.

    Also, I'd like to extend a welcoming hand. I'm glad you found the IC Network. You'll find a lot of information and support here.

    Sending healing thoughts,
    Stay safe

        Hi Mike! When I had my trial, I felt immediate relief, but with others I think it may be gradual. How many of these surgeries and trials has your dr done????

        Please go to the surgery board because there is alot of talk going on over there. And, if I can help you with individual questions, you can always e-mail me... mailto:[email protected][email protected]</A>

        Welcome to our board!!!!! We need support from more men

          Hi Mike,
          I can't really answer your questions, but I wanted to welcome you and let you know you're not alone. I'm 26 and am going thru my first interstim trial right now. So we can be Intestim buddies this week! It was put in on Friday, had a small adjustment today, but it's not going well.
          I am feeling okay, recovering from soreness, and finally able to sit at the computer. But my symptoms are the same and it's not helping. I only have 1 wire in and the xray shows it is in too deep. So I guess it's no wonder why it's not working properly. Hang in there! I'm trying to keep hope that it'll start helping any minute now. ;-)
          Is it helping your symptoms at all?
          Take care,

            Thank you Donna,Christina,Teri and Melanie for your welcome {where are all the men with I.C,am I the only one?}
            HOw is your trial going Melanie? This is the last day of my trial and so far frequency and volume have not changed but pain seems less. The most noticable thing is the desperate urgency is less. I can hold on for a bit if the loo is engaged and not try to break the door down. As we are running parallel trials I'd love to know how you are getting on. Would you like to reply on the Surgery notice board? I'll look out for you.
            Many thanks to you all. Mike
