  • IC The Natural Way, Help?

Hello Ya'll (lol). I guess Im just gonna blab on here because this is my first post and im feelin pretty alone on this IC thing.

My main questions are Has anyone tried healing IC naturaly?, ( Im On Quercitin,Colostrum,Alkaline Drops,Grapefruit Seed Extract) And they seem to be helping a lot.

Has anyone tried the Raw Food Diet? (ive been on it for about 5 days going strong! and am 70% to 90% symptom free)

Has anyone tried Bladder Q? Did it help?

Has anyone tried Marshmallow Root Extract? Did it help?

Any other pointers or things That may have helped you naturaly?

p.s. (I have a HUGE fear of doctors and can barely step into their offices'....) I have gotten a lot of responces saying that the only way to cure this is going to the doctor and have them do treatments. I no this is not true, for i have a friends that with this disease who have convinced me otherwise.
Have had IC sense i was younger, runs in my family.
i handle my IC 100% naturaly. Look me up on youtube my user name is DirtAllianceGurl69. I share some tips on Doing this the natural way

Well hmmm whether you go to the doctor or stay home and do it naturally there really is no cure only symptom reduction. I guess it depends. If you don't have extreme pain then probably following the IC Diet is the biggest help. Not sure what the raw food diet is but if it goes along with the IC diet then you're good.

Alot of people like cystoprotek and you can order it here or on amazon - it has chondroitin sulfate, glucosamine sulfate, quercitin, rutin, and hylauronate sodium.

Dessert harvest aloe vera I think is a really good product, a natural anti-inflammatory and has been tested for IC, you can check out their website.

Adding calcium to each meal will help neutralize your urine ph if its acidic. You can test it with ph strips from a health food store. It helps stop burning etc.

I used marshmallow root in the form of tea for quite a few months but it didn't help me personally. I do think peppermint and chamomile tea are very soothing.

Flaxseed oil is a natural anti-inflammatory too.

Also antihistamines are very helpful for alot of ICers and you can buy them OTC in non-drowsy forms. But thats probably not considered natural right?

Thats all I can think of for now.
    Cindi

Gelnique for frequency/urgency - works great
    Macrobid after sex
    Prilosec, continuous birth control pills
    synthroid .088mg, mucinex-d, restasis

Supplements: Desert Harvest Aloe vera, Cysta-q, prelief, magnesium and calcium, Vit D, flaxseed oil

Diag Mild IC Jan 11 but have had symptoms for 25 years. Also have GERD, TMJ, IBS-C, chronic dry eye syndrome, hashimotos thyroiditis, non-allergic rhinitis.

Have you actually been dx'd by a doctor? Because if not, and I don't know this for sure (I'm not a doc) but without being dx'd you may not have IC at all. Or you may have some type of infection or pelvic floor disorder. I understand not liking doctors. I'm not crazy about them either, but you should check with someone with medical experience with IC to make sure all the natural remedies you're trying are not actually hurting you. Being your own "doctor" can be very dangerous. Maybe you should check with a homeopathic doc. They do natural remedies and some people find them very helpful. Good luck to you.
Katie-46 yr old female dx'd with IC after 15 years of symptoms off and on long term antibiotic use, GERD,IBS and now IC diet, gallbladder removed, endometrial ablation w/tubes tied
        Lexapro-20 mg
        Aciphex
        Ambien-as needed
Percocet-7.5 up to 3 per day as needed
        Valium-10 mg x2 per day
        Phenergan-1 at night
        Prelief w/everything
        Now recovering from acute pancreatitis

        Currents treatments that help somewhat:
        Heating pad
        Hot baths
        Ice
Being VERY still while lying down with legs elevated

it is very posible that i do have IC because my mother has it, my aunt and my grandmother have it. So its pretty likely. they we're all medicaly diagnosed thorough doctors. i was in an urgent care about 7 months ago for what was the 9th "bladder infection" within a 6 month period there was no pill that they put me that would get rid of the pain and the urgencey. Not to menchin all the urine test came back negitive for e.coli and bacteria. i felt like i was going batty! but my mom controls hers through mainly diet and natural herbs and stuff. i have most if not all the symptoms of IC. i just have an unbelieve fear of doctors... and i have not found one doctor has been nice or understanding of that

            Hi,

That's great that you're finding such relief through diet and hebs:-) Do you mind if I ask what herbs your mom takes? Does she follow the IC diet, raw diet, or something else? Also, how have your grandmother and aunt managed? I find this so interesting because IC appears to run in my family too.

            Jill:-)

My mothers case seems to be mild and off and on she follows the IC diet when possible and only take Quericitin when she needs it. My grandmother has it, but she also has dieabetis and heart and kidney problems she refuses anything but medical treatment and follows no diet simply using the excuse she has no will power lol. but my aunt and i are the ones who have it to where we have to make changes to our daily lives so we can be comfortable. My aunt follows a strict IC diet and is on many herbs ford her joints and IC. We do our wheat grass juice and green smothies and that seems to help a lot lol

              thanks for your replys

Ashlay, even if you don't like doctors, you really need to at least get a definitive diagnosis. There are other possible things that can cause your symptoms. I urge you to see a urologist to find out exactly what's going on.

Uva Ursi, Pipsissewa, Mullein, and Buchu are all common herbs used for urinary tract problems. I've found Buchu to be the most helpful, probably because it has unique properties that make it a specific remedy for urethral burning.

Think it's great you are getting so much relief from natural remedies. We all hate going to the doctor. And like others say, maybe it is not IC, and you may never know, and if that's what you prefer, then so be it. To get 70% relief, no matter what it is, is huge. You're apparently doing the right things for YOU, they do not work for all. There are a lot of natural remedies out there, perhaps you would at least sit down with a naturopath dietician and make sure your system stays balanced. Take the diet list with you so he/she does not have to do that research. But seriously, at least do that if you refuse to see a "medical" doc. There are also naturopath docs out there. Please be careful with herbal stuff, sometimes the folks in the health food store don't know it all. Wish you much luck with this, personally sounds like you are on the right track for YOU, just be careful.

And yes, Bob loves the marshmallow root tea, we buy in bulk not the stupid bags and brew it like coffee. He finds it quite soothing. Whether that is in his head or not, don't know, but whatever works and is harmless. In any case, the diet is so helpful. You would think cranberry pills or juice would be the drug of choice, but it is the worst thing you can take. That's why I say be careful. Wish you the best, please let everyone know how you are doing with your natural journey. Jill, wife of Bob

If your symptoms don't improve very quickly, please do see a doctor. When I first experienced IC symptoms I was terrified because I was having the same symptoms my father had with bladder cancer. I was actually glad to learn my diagnosis.
