Thats not bad if you consider the price of cigs. these days. But you could be like my husband and have the sh-- scared out of him and have the doctor tell you that you had a heart attack! and some blockage of the arteries. The test came out not as bad as we thought, but the good thing was that he did quit smoking. Hasn't had a cig. in 21 months.

It is call CHANTIX and can only be prescribed by a Doctor. It cost over $100 per month and is not covered by my insurance. Well worth it if one considers the cost of smoking. It works in the brain and makes any pleasure from smoking disappear. I can't even stand the smell of a cigarettes now. If you go to their site, I think it says it should be taken for twenty four weeks. I've had no anxiety at all. I am eatting too much but will deal with that later. It is hard for me to believe in 50 years I have never gone a day without smoking. I hope this helps you. Ziggy

I heard about this medication too. Its suppose to be "the drug". My Friends Mother is also starting to take it. (she is also just dx with IC), but I think she is going to put up with the pain if she has it, which I'm sure she has.
Let us know what it is, in the mean time, if I get a chance to talk to my friends mom, I will ask her, or if I see the commerical on TV I will write it down.

Meds for stop smoking causing flare

I have smoked 50 years. A medicine has just came out that helps GREATLY to stop smoking. I have been on it for a month and no desire to smoke at all. The problem? It is making me flare. I need to take these pills for two more months if I am to suceed and never smoke again. I have tried everything on the market for many years and these pills are it. The one and only help for me. It is an RX from my Family Doctor. He knows nothing about IC. but sent me to Doctors who do. Since smoking is so terrible on the body in every way should I put up with the flare until I have gone through the entire regiment or stop the meds and Pray the flare goes away. The Doctor was so excited to be able to help me with stopping smoking, he never thought of what it might do to my bladder and since he knows so little about I.C. , I can understand. I don't know what to do! Ziggy
