Thanks for the support! I ended up seeing a new doctor last week who I liked very much. She gave me some meds to stop the bladder spasms and urgency which seems to have helped. It also appears that I had a yeast infection that won't go away so I've been taking something for that. I am hoping that I don't have full blown IC. I have not been diagnosed. They tell me I do have cystitis. I go back this week to see her. I am still having good and bad days. I have pain in my groin sometimes that seems to be related to foods I eat. Today I'm having trouble, yesterday was a good day. I'm keeping a food diary. Any other insights. I'm really pretty upset about all of this. Over all I've been healthy my entire life so all of this comes as a bit of a shock to be honest.

    to the IC Network.
I'm really sorry you're having a difficult time. Hopefully, since it's only been a week since your procedure, you'll still benefit after you have had some time to heal.

I do think it may be time to seek a second opinion. You first might want to talk with the uro who did your procedure and ask specifically if you have IC. If you do see another doctor, you can ask for a copy of the surgery report; the hospital medical records department should be able to provide that to you. You have a right to have a copy --- they may charge for it, however.

I also suggest you have a look at the Patient Handbook at http://www.ic-network.com/handbook --- there's some excellent information there about diagnosis, as well as treatment options --- and the IC diet.

    Warm healing thoughts,
    Donna

Thanks for the advice everyone. I've had a particularly bad two days and am actually feeling a bit better today. I have made arrangements to see my gyno to have another exam and also an allergist to have testing done again to see if there are any new foods I'm allergic to as my Uro says this could be a problem.

My uro has really given me a hard time. I find him to be very much a control freak, and I have a feeling he just doesn't respect women. I'm a pretty in charge kind of lady, and so we have not hit it off. I'm actually afraid to call his office to ask questions..... That's pretty bad. His secretary told me that he was "getting frustrated with me". The feeling is mutual. In the mean time I have an appointment with another uro in two weeks for a "second opinion" I guess I need to call to get copies of my records...... I'm not looking forward to calling......

If you are able, find a doctor you're comfortable with. Many have horrible bedside manners & I've left several for this reason!!! IF @ all possible it's best to have a doctor (no matter what the specialty) that you have a good relationship with.

If you don't mind my asking, why do you not like him/her?

I'm not sure about it. I had frequency and urge.

    Maily posting to welcome you
This is a good place to find others that have had your problems somewhere.

Hi there. I'm new too and the first thing I would suggest is find a URologist
you like and feel comfortable with. This is definitely the place to get good advice. Hang in there!

    New... Have Questions....

In November I came down with what I thought was a UTI. Labs came back positive for a slight infection but cultures did not come back with anything. My doctor gave me Macrobid and cipro which did seem to help some, but after three months of not clearing I was refered to a Uro (who I do not like). Last week he did a scope and stretched both my bladder and urithra as well as treated my irritation. I feel basically the same as before he did all that. Still pain, still urgency......

I had my office visit last week and he has put me on an incontenece diet which is a bit different than the one I see posted here for IC. I can not have milk products, but can have grape juice..... I'm not really sure why he diagnosed me with incontenece as well as a "sensative bladder" since I have only had trouble ever so occationally with leaking a drop when I sneeze and my bladder is full. In the mean time I have pain and urgency and am on no medications, just diet.

My questions are: Does anyone else have this sort of a diagnoses? Will I get relief from my pain and urgency with just diet? How do I know I'm not having another UTI since they feel the same as this? How long did it generally take for you to feel some relief?

Thanks for the help.... As you can tell I'm super confused.....
