My urologist NP feels I may have Painful Bladder Syndrome. Today, I had appt with urologist, who spent at least 30 minutes talking/listening. :-) He feels I may have urethral syndrome or a combination of the two.
I have IC which I think is the same as PBS. If your urethral pain is like mine ask your doctor simply for a script for Pyridium. You can take it like 3 times a day and wow what a difference!
Current Meds: Interstim implant, Elmiron, Elavil, Hydoxyzine, Protonix, Reglan, Vicodin as needed

IC started in 1997 ((hydro(pointless) but not officially diagnosed only mast cells and inflammation?)
Endo started 1999 (like 5 laps thru the years to laser tumors and remove large ovarian cysts)

2002 thru 2005 - Endo and IC
Total Vaginal Hysterectomy in 05 (Horrible - total regret - NO RELIEF OF ANYTHING EXCEPT MY ABILITY TO HAVE MORE CHILDREN)
Bladder sling 6 mths after hyster in 05
Another hydro (even more pointless) 06 and found hunner's ulcers (offical diagnosis date)
Neurostimulator - Interstim 07 (best thing ever for frequency)
Appendectomy 07
Another bladder sling op because sling broke (Worst pain ever during first one and then again, WOW!)
IC - Bladder Retention (New) - UTIs (New/6 since Jan 08) - PFD - IBS - Acid Reflux - Groin Tendonitis - Severe Constipation - Anxiety disorder and depression
100mg Elmiron - 2 twice daily
90mg Avinza (Morphine) - 1 am and pm
Benefiber 3x daily
Miralax
Amitiza (RX for constipation)
60mg Prevacid
15mg Oxycodone every 3 hours as needed
10/325 Percocet every 4 hours as needed
10mg Valium as needed
10mg Ambien as needed
Pyrelle and Urelle for burning
Prelief
Vivelle Patch (Estrogen)
IC Diet (try but not really strict but found some triggers)[/SIZE]
I do have prescription for Pyridium. I also had Prosced which worked, but that is off the market. My pharmacy subsituted Uro blue for it.. and it doesn't seem to work.

This is some of the information available on Prosed. I started taking it today and am already peeing blue. I hope it helps because with the support I get from my uro I may as well not see anybody.
Prosed DS (Methenamine, Salicylate, Methylene Blue, Benzoic Acid Atropine and Hyoscyamine) may treat, side effects, dosage, drug interactions, warnings, patient labeling, reviews, and related medications including drug comparison and health resources.

I spoke to a pharmacist who stated that the red and blue drugs basically do the same exact thing but he did think it was not recommended for everyday for like a year or so but was ok for a month or two and to discuss taking this with a urologist only.
The past few days I don't think I could have made it without the stuff. Major flare-up. I think it was caffeine. Decided to have a few soda!
Wrong choice!
