Have you tried your lactation consultant? Tums are ok and they help with burning. I think pyridium is catergory B but I don't think its known if it passes into the milk. Maybe you could pump right after feeding, get some milk stored up, then take meds and feed breastmilk by bottle. This is my only suggestion, but be aware bottles can cause nipple confusion. A lactation consultant is your best bet!

Your doctor should be able to tell you which medications are safe while breastfeeding even if he/she isn't educated about interstitial cystitis.

i live in germany and Have been to 4 doc's already with no luck. Is there any herbal meds that are good for ic that are ok to take while breastfeeding?

Hello everyone,
I am a breastfeeding mother and I am wondering is there anything out there that is safe to take for frequency and ureathral pain....I can't seem to find a doctor who knows anything about ic where I live.
