  • DOes anyone here have a history of Ovarian Cysts?

I have a L O N G time struggle and history with Ovarian Cysts.. I lost my right Ovary to a huge durmoid 20 yrs ago... Anyway I noticed that th IC pain is far worse when I also have an ovarina cyst...I also noticed that about two weeks before I get my period the IC is way out of control and Im really miserable.Anyone here have a history of Ovarian Cysts? Does abdominal surgeries/trauma have anything to do with why women have IC?

    Diane,
I've had a couple of ovarian cysts. I don't know if I would call it a history. I had one the size of a soft ball 2/06 and I ended up losing my right ovary because of it. It does seem that IC seems to be linked with hormone changes. Personally I get a big flare during my period but everybody is different.
As for what causes IC there are a number of therioes but nobody knows for sure. Some think that a tramua can cause it so surgery could go along with that theory. I had a bladder surgery due to endo a couple of years ago and I really wonder if that played a factor in the development of my IC.

I have been diagnoised for 6 1/2 years now. I have taken a long break from the ICN but really miss helping out my fellow IC patients and want to get back into posting.
1st hydro 4/07 showed no visible signs of IC but tons of mast cells in all my biopsy samples which did prove IC.
2nd hydro 4/13/09 showed dark purple glomerulations and I had a capacity of 450 cc's. This hydro proved that my IC had progressed.
I have tried every oral medication as well as rescue instills and DMSO.

I have been lucky enough to see Dr Hanno, the top IC specialist in PA who has told me due to the fact that I have not responded to any "standard" treatments that I have a severe, end stage case of IC with a horrible quality of life (didn't have to tell me that last part!)

I have a very long history of Ovary Cycsts also. They started for me when I started my period at age 12. I also had a dermoid tumor removed, it was back in 05 and my doc had to take the ovary with it. It was my left one. It was the size of a grapefruit I believe.

My history is weird I had issues with the cycst when I started my period like I said. Once I had my son in 96 I did not have any problems at all. It was like I was cured. Nothing. Then 7 yrs later I had my daughter and well lets just say it has gone down hill from there.

After I had the tumor removed I got PG again and lost that baby, then we got PG with my last one. After my last son was born I was still having problems so my doc and I decided to go ahead and have a hysterectomy done in 12/06.

I was dx with IC in March 07.....I think the problem has been here for quite some time, just never knew it.

I hope this helps....I don't know if I was able to help u.

I have had several ovarian cysts. They had to remove my right ovary because I had a big cyst. The cysts have subsided since I have been in menopause. I had a hysterectomy and they left the left ovary. I had one cyst in the remaining ovary since the hysterectomy, but none after that.
        Meds I take:
        Elmiron, Elavil, Vagifem- for IC
Albuterol, Flovent, Atrovent- for Asthma and lung problems
Paxil, Clonazepam- for depression and Anxiety
        Atenolol- for rapid heart rate
        Nexium- for Gerd
        Levothyroxin- for Hypothyroidism
        Lasix, Pottasium- for edema
        Lipitor- for High Cholesterol
        I coated aspirin
        02 at bedtime

I also have a long history of cysts. I've been cropping them up for about 10 years. I've currently got one on my right ovary and at this point, we're looking at something surgical because I don't tolerate birth control well and I surely do not want to be pregnant at this point. Grrr.

I have, and was dignased back in july 06, but its gottan better since, getting off of a few meds. for depression and anxiety. I don't get thoe, is that with IC women usually have a worst bladder when the period comes, but for me its opposite, except at night when I'm trying to sleep. Other than that, my bladder seems quite a bit better, like the flow sorta, coats me somehow inside, and helps with not having to go as much. when I was 15 somehow, once I went like 5-6 hours without peeing on my 2nd day of my period, and if I wasn't on my period, I was going like every 20 min. or so. But everyone is different.

pcos, has gottan better in last few months, but did have a good amount of problems with pain in 06 when it came to that.
