    Alomond milk

Hello, I was wonderring if anyone can help in telling me if they ever had problem with Almond milk... I know it contains Potassium and Potassium is what Urologists used to diagnose IC by inserting it directly to the bladder.

Thank you and hope everyone gets better!!!

    Hi Ivy,
You're very welcome and yes, it does get better!
When I first got IC, I was voiding 60+ times a day, completely unable to sleep, doubled over most of the time, unable to wear pants, or jeans, barely able to work.

Over time, I have found my diet & treatment combination & I feel pretty good most days. (See list below my name for specifics) I still have flares, but most of the time, I use the restroom maybe 6-10x a day, wear jeans all the time, sleep well, work fulltime fairly easily, do yoga, go to the gym, hike & travel modestly. Life is pretty good overall.

Hang in there, it takes some time to figure out your personal diet, medicines, & physical routines (physical therapy & exercise help me a lot too). But when you do, life gets a lot better! I'm telling you a little of my story here to give you hope that yes, it is possible to be very sick, but get better!

If you have a Trader Joe's near you, I also have a shopping list for there
    Cheers,

    Kadi

Kadi you're my lifesaver today! Thank you for posting that Safeway shopping list!! That's where my husband and I shop every day, it's right across the street. Thank you so much!! I was nearly in tears a minute ago talking to my husband on the phone while he called me back letting me know what flavored olive oils there are for me to try as a salad dressing and most of them had vinegar or black pepper in them, which I see is a no no. I ended up with a roasted garlic one with some herbs in it. I hope it's good. I see a lot of stuff on your list I'd love to have (Frito's, Cookies, lol) but I'm on that strict Diet and trying to lose 50 pounds (I've lost 3 this week, my first week) so I'm really having a tough time.
Also, thank you for the link to the IC Cookbook. That might be my lifesaver. I can't wait to go check that out more.
I can't thank you enough for everything. Finding this board and everyone on it has been a blessing to me. I hope some of my symptoms subside. I'm in a lot of pain this weekend, it's horrible. Does it ever go away?? God, I hope so.
BTW, congrats on losing the weight and keeping it off!!! :woohoo:
    Hugs-
    Ivy

Hang in there, figuring out the IC triggers is not an easy process, but it's totally worth it. After about 3 weeks on the diet, I started noticing a difference. I still needed medicines as well to control the IC, but I probably take a lot less of them because of successfully modifying my diet.

I don't know about Ediets, but I did use www.sparkpeople.com several years ago. It's free, has great articles, message boards (including a thread on chronic illness, which had other IC patients responding), recipes, etc. I lost 13 pounds on it, over a summer & have not gained them back. :woohoo: You might check it out.

Here are a few resources for you as well:

Sending a hug & wishing you better days soon!

    Recipes for IC Diet?

I'm new to IC and trying to follow the diet which isn't easy. On top of that I'm also trying to lose 50 lbs and on EDiets so I'm trying to incorporate the IC diet into the EDiets and it's difficult. Is there a thread for Dietary help and hints anywhere here? If not is it possible to get one started somehow?
