Hey there! to the gang!! I am so glad to hear that things are going along very well right now, and that's a great thing to be proud of - seven months is wonderful! And we have to take our victories where we can!!!

Very nice to meet you and look forward to seeing you around the boards!!!

Diagnosed two years ago, but new to this board!!!

Hey all!!! My name is Nichole and I was "diagnosed" 2 years ago with IC..I use the quotations because was diagnosed two years ago and then undiagnosed and then diagnosed again..when all along I KNEW that I had IC. I am 23 years old and have been dealing with this ever since I had a terrible UTI (with blood clots) in college when I was 18. For the most part I have my symptoms under control, it has been seven months since I have had to walk into my urologist office and I am very proud of that. Don't get me wrong, I still have the burning and the urgency, but I think I have finally found the medications for me!!!! I have tried what seems like every medication under the sun, I went through a series of DMSO treatments (only made things twenty times worse) finally I have found that oxytrol helps my urgency 100% (i occasionally have a BAD day) but I can lead a "normal" day to day life..and I use Uristat/peridium for pain (probably a little to much, but i hope to one day be able to not use those). I have found throughout this process that I am strong, and as I always tell people I have learned to live my life to the fullest and try to not let this disease take control of my life (which it very well has every possibility to do). I have also found out that I am allergic to many of the antibiotics that I have been put on, which doesn't help because it just leaves a select few to choose from. I have an amazing husband . He is the most understanding man I have ever met, I tell everybody I meet he must really love me for me because I'm sure he doesn't get his manly needs met as much as he would like, I couldn't ask for anybody better, he holds my hand when it burns and runs a bath when I can't pee...he is great! I just wanted to let everyone know that even though I am new to this site, I am in no way new to IC. I am so glad to finally be able to talk about it with people that truly understand, that is probably the second best feeling in the world (first being those days of relief we all hopefully get occasionally)!!!!
