Is it itchy internally or externally?

Hmm, I've never really had that sensation. Do you do instillations? I would think lidocaine instilled into the bladder might help with that. But I'd also say, call your doctor. Meanwhile, maybe an antihistamine would help. Or you could try the baking soda cocktail --- just mix about 1/2 tsp. of baking soda in a glass of water and drink. It tastes awful, but it is very soothing for the bladder.

I hope it improves. Please check in with your doctor; he or she may have an answer for you. And let us know how you're doing!

No, I don't do installations. I am newly dx, and so far on Elmiron and Desipramine. The dr. said to try those meds, and to come back in a month. (I also have a pain killer, but try not to take it unless desperate). They do seem to be working (along w/ the IC diet), but I am still symptomatic and I hate the itching...well, I hate all the pain symptoms, but the itching drives me CRAZY. I will try all of your advice, though. Thanks, Kathy

If your doctor ordered pain medications for you, my suggestion is to take them before you become desperate. It takes far less medication to control pain if you catch it before it becomes horrible.

            Warm encouraging hugs,
            Donna
