I had to go through some real jerks before someone would finally pay attention to what was going on with me. I was finally dx in February by a potassium sensitivity test, not fun. The uro said that I had "mild ic" I must admit that there are some people on this board that have it much worse off then me. He prescribed me elmiron and I'm taking it 3 x a day for 6 months and I have a follow up visit in August to see how things are going. He also prescribed me proced for when I'm really having problems, it's seemed to have helped me in the past. I'm so scared cause it seems like everyone else on this board is taking so many meds that i've never heard of. I don't know if what i"m taking is enough. He told me that before my follow up appointment I could call if I was having any problems. I'm just so sick of feeling like everyone is blowing me off, gyno's office, doctor's office etc.

HI Shannon,
I know how your feeling. I went through many doctors and Uro's myself for years before I finally found one that listened to me and diagnosed me 13 years ago. Your going to have to just keep trying new ones until you finally can find one that treats you right. I moved to a new state two years ago, and I still haven't been able to find anyone here that even knows much about IC, so it's been hard. Good luck in your search.

I'm 47 years old, married 27 years. I have two wonderful boys and two wonderful grandchildren. I was diagnosed in 1994. Life has certainly thrown me many many surprises, all of which I'm trying to stay positive and hopeful, and I try to think about my blessings not my misfortunes, when possible. Stay Strong!
