  • Questions....thoughts..

    Hi All,

I'm still doing better now that I've tried all of the things I wrote about in my last post. I certainly still have symptoms but the pain feels more manageable now. I learn something new everyday...like...Gatorade is definately out!

I have some questions, if you don't mind giving me a comment or two!

    1) Suddenly, I am one of those people who have to go to the bathroom all of the time now. This is really new for me and not one of the easiest parts of this, especially since I am one of those people who was part camel in their life before IC. Does the frequency go away with the flare?

    2) Does remission feel like you are back to your old self---no frequency, no pain? Or can you have no pain and still have frequency and then visa-versa? In short, what is remission really like? How often does IC reoccur on average?

    3) For the past few years I seem to have a pressure in my pelvic region, especially during periods. Could this be the pelvic floor problem? It's like a tightening of my pelvic muscles or something---hard to explain.

    4) When I call my doctor today, should I insist on coming in for some sort of treatment or just wait two weeks until my cysto? I guess the pain is somewhat bearable now that I am self treating.

    5) Does anyone else have acid reflux? I've had it all my life and I am wondering if there is some sort of connection. I haven't been too consistent about treating it and I am wondering if the acid from my stomach has worn away my bladder lining. Also, since I've been doing the diet, I've noticed the reflux is a heck of a lot better too.

    6) I notice blueberries are okay. Is that true? I'm worried about losing weight now--I'm already a small person---5'3" and 105 pounds. How do you keep the calories up?

    7) Has anyone else had luck with TryingToCope's system of Quercitin and/or Glucosimine with MSM? I just got back from the health food store with a month's supply and I am eager to see how I do with it. I also bought a whole lot of pears! Any thoughts on these supplements?

I think that's it for now. Thank you so much to anyone willing to add their two cents....

It depends. Some people's main problem is frequency (even when they aren't in a flare). And some people have frequency only when they flare.

A remission is different for everyone. Some people have NO symptoms while others only have slight symptoms (not enough to bother them). It also depends on how you describe a remission--your criteria may be different.

    4) When I call my doctor today, should I insist on coming in for some sort of treatment or just wait two weeks until my cysto? I guess the pain is somewhat bearable now that I am self treating.
That's up to you. If you feel you can't take the pain/pressure/frequency insist on going in sooner and see what can be done.

*waves acid reflux flag* I have BAAAAD acid and bile reflux. I had my gallbladder out about 3 years ago too because it just stopped working. and now take a very high dose of Prilosec and that seems to help my bladder--strange huh?

    Hope my answers help some.
