I have been on Elmiron, Hydroxzine and the IC diet for a little over 2 months. In the middle of March my uro said that he thought I had IC, but only took a urine sample and gave me a written test. I started having problems in January with yeast infections and UTI's. My question is, I do not believe that I am having very many problems with the bladder part now. I found that if my bladder starts acting up for me to put a heating pad on it over night and I would be fine in the morning. Is it a possibility that I do not even have IC, but that I have bladder spasms or PFD? I read that the UTI's could have caused some damage to my bladder which in turn could cause me to have spasms or have PFD and since PFD and IC have similar symptoms, I am wondering which one I have or do I have both? The MAIN problem I am having is burning. I believe it is mostly with my vagina. I am wondering if it is dryness that is causing the burning. I am currently putting estrace cream on at night and using replens twice a week. I did not have my period last week, just spotting, and it was black. The last two times me and my husband have had sex, I have had black stuff come out afterwards for the rest of the day. Could my meds be drying my period out? And..one other thing, I have periodic itching and have noticed in the past couple of days that I have bumps down there? Is that a sign of VV?

Since I've been taking elmiron, my periods have been like that and it takes longer for it to come down. It used to come exactly 28 days apart and now I can usually feel like it wants to come, but it take longer and is not black, but darker than usual. I wonder if the elmiron makes it thicker and harder to come down. -
hmmm
Kristi,
About the bumps----it is possible you're allergic to latex??
Latex makes me break out down there. Several years ago during a pap, my doctor said, "Honeyyyyy, why didn't you tell me you were allergic to latex??"
I didn't know I was. The latex from her gloves made me break out in a rash down there.
And now I realize I'm allergic to latex no matter what body part it touches.
So from then on, I told doctors and they use latex free gloves on me.Lee Ann

I have not had anything latex touch me. About a week and a half ago I had a bump in there that looked like a pimple and that it what I assumed it was and it eventually went away. The past couple of days when I am washing in the shower I have felt some small bumps so today I finally busted out the mirror and looked and there is a bigger bump that also looks like a pimple. I mean I am not known for having a great complexion, but I have never had pimples down there. Do you still think I am allergic to something?Diagnosed with IC - March 2007

it could be ingrown hairs. I have had that a couple times and they hurt beyond belief. I usually put some anti-bacterial goop on it lol, they end up going away in a few days. I went and asked my gyn at one point and there was no stds, sometimes they just happen.'The will of God will never take you where the Grace of God will not protect you.'Comment

You really need to see your doctor. It's probably not serious, but abnormal bleeding should always be promptly reported to your medical professional.

Hmmm, IDK, it could be an allergy to your detergent....I'm allergice to most detergents. When I go to a hotel I have to bring my own sheets & covers, ugh! Otherwise I break out. Before I developed this whole body allergy though, I had the allergy down there first. It gradually got worse to where my whole body was capable of reacting....I use Dreft detergent.
It also sounds like it could be an ingrown hair maybe. But if you have a lot of them then probably not.Lee Ann

Well hello there... I know that at this point you are stressing out!!! I know that I would also. Ok first and foremost I'm not a doc or anything ok...but this is my experience and I'm sharing with you just so that maybe it will help you out ok.
Ok first if you are using reg soap in your privates...you might want to spend the extra money and use Summer's Eve Fem Wash. I found out that I'm allergic to ANY kind of soap down there. When I was a teen I kept getting yeast infections and bac infec EVERY month....no joke. The doc asked if I was having sex, at that time no...so he said then you have to be allergic to your soap. So ever since then I have used Summer Eve Wash. I can't even take a bath and use soap to wash my body cause I will have problems later. No bubbles no calgon....nothing. But.....you can put the wash in ur bath and have BUBBLES....:woohoo:
Now for the bump issue....Please go to the doc and get it checked out. You want to make sure that you go when you have one present. Don't mess with it, just put like some vasaline on it so it doesn't get irrated any more.
But please let a doc check it out.....you never know what it could be. And it is better to know excatly what it is then to just guess.
I have some bumps that I asked my doc about and mine are just natural....that's what she said. They are very tiny, but I wanted to know.
I also have warts, They have been under control for years...but just like IC if I get stressed out then I can have an issue.
I found out about the warts when I was married to my first hubby. Damn him!! lol I had these bumps come up that looked like a huge pimple but there was more than one and they were all in the same place. About 3 I think. Now I know before hand if one is coming cause I itch really bad in a certain spot down there and it starts to hurt.
I also have shingles...which just like IC if I get stressed out to bad I will have an issue. Now that is painful....I know when I'm having an outbreak...cause I can barely touch my skin. It is normally on the back of my leg....but here lately I have felt it on my face or my arm. If you don't know what shingles are, they are Herpes virs. But you get Shingles from Chix pox. Once u have Chix pox as a child....as most of have I think. You have that virs in your body for ever, that is why u don't get it again. Well most of us...there are some that have gotten again. Chix pox attacks the nerves and well that's what causes shingles....in a nut shell
I'm sorry for going on.....Please just go see a doc and have it checked out!!!
Live your life to YOUR best, and Love to YOUR best!!!

All of your suggestions have been do helpful. I called my gyno today and left a message. Hopefully they will get back with me tomorrow. I called him last week about the period thing and he told me to call him this week if I did not have my period. What could be another reason for itching? Could it be my nerves acting up. Regarding the soap, I use Dove and I actually am too scared to put it down there so I just run warm water down there. Is that not good enough? I also have been washing my panties and towels in Arm & Hammer Sensitive Skin laundry detergent and not using dryer sheets or softner. I just recently this week have changed my detergent to Dreft and have ran my panties through it and will try that out. I am also double rinsing to make sure that all the soap suds are out. I have changed to all white cotton underwear the past two months as well and dry myself off with a white towel. Is there anything else that I could do? I am going to go to the store tonight and buy the Summer's Eve Fem Wash. Should I ask my doctor for Tompamax for this problem first before Elavil to see if it will work so that I can skip the weight gain altogether?Diagnosed with IC - March 2007
