  • Finally diagnosed

    Hello all,

After 5 month of struggle I have finally been diagnosed with IC. It all started last year with a series of UTIs (8) with nothing found in the cultures. At first my symptoms went away with atibiotics, but eventually that did not work anymore. I was diagnosed by exclusion as there was nothing abnormal in my pelvic CT scan and the Dr. did not see anything during the cystoscopy (not as horribly bad I thought it was going to be), however when he put the solution I was in pain after 100cc. Since the urologist could not figure out what else could be causing my symptoms he diagnosed me with IC. I am now on Elmiron and Hydroxizine (first dose: 5/30/07). He also prescribed polyethylene glycol, a laxative. Does any body know if this is bladder friendly?

I found this site when I was struggling with extreme bladder pain, pressure, urgency and frecuency. Following the IC diet was my first step and it reduced my symptoms to 2-4 days every week. I am very thankful about all the information and support I have found here.

    Thanks to all!
