    Hi to all , I have been waiting to see a specialist for 5 months and today was the day. I meet with her after a 3 hour wait and was amaized with her knowdlege about IC, she spent 45 to 50 min with me asked all the right questions and cared about the way I have been feeling. This Dr is the fifth Dr I see about my symptoms wich I've had for a year now , she even had booklets about IC . She will be doing a hydro ,laproscopic procedure( to rule out endo) and will use a laser if I need it. I feel like there is hope for me now I had several Dr's telling that I didn't have anything that it was all in my head .Thanks to the website I knew everything she was talking about:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

    Its great to hear that you've finally found a Dr who's willing to help you;
    Most of us know how long that road can be, unfortunately.

    Hope you start feeling better soon!

        I was very fortunate that the first urologist I saw diagnosed my IC. I know how important it is to have a doctor who is familiar with and understands interstitial cystitis.

        Warm hugs,

          How wonderful! You must be so relieved.
          Kim

          Diagnosed August 2001

          Current IC meds: Elmiron (since 2001), Levaquin (one pill after intercourse to prevent UTIs), Effexor (for depression & anxiety)

          Past IC meds: Amitriptyline (Elavil), Hydroxyzine (Vistaril), Detrol LA, Lexapro (for depression & anxiety, but also helped my IC) (They all helped, but I was able to discontinue them.)

          I've been virtually symptom free and able to eat & drink whatever I'd like for about 8 years now.

            That's great. I'm very happy that you found a caring, considerate doctor who actually understands IC!

            04/17/09 Crohn's disease almost killed me with a combo of extreme constipation from pain medications. My bowel ruptured, I almost died from peritonitis and spent several days in the ICU then more in a private room on the floor. If you have any questions about severe constipation from pain meds please don't hesitate to send me a message.
