Prelief is an over the counter pill that can be taken with foods to prevent flaring. I believe that it helps neutralize the acid in the food. For this reason, some people with reflux in the esophagus take it as well, to cut the acid in the food.
It may help, but if you are in a flare, I doubt it will be all you need.
Yes, I take about 1/4 tsp baking soda in a glass of water and it helps. I cannot keep drinking it, though, because too much gives me a headache, and since it's salt, I know there is a limit. It works for a few hours.
Again, I believe that you need to be treated to prevent flares if at all possible. The prelief and baking soda are great when needed, but do not really keep the IC at bay.

I avoid foods that I react to in my esophagus, bowel and bladder, and I react to many things. It is an imperfect method, but it is all that I do at the moment.
