I have been there too. I just thought I'd mention that Cipro makes me feel horrible. I can't take that and it's probably not helping how you feel at all.

When you get some definite answers, it will help a lot. I take Wellbutrin also, you may need something for anxiety. I sure do. Sometimes it is VERY hard to deal with, but I am sure things will look better tomorrow. Get some sleep, get to the urologist and try to follow the diet. I wish you all the best.

Please do go see a urologist. It does sound like IC is a possibility. There are many treatments for us and the sooner you get started with a uro, the sooner you have an opportunity to feel better.

One very important thing --- please don't strain to urinate --- it will only make the pain worse. Your doctor should be able to prescribe something to help relax your muscles so you can go without straining. There are several --- the ones that immediately come to my mind are cardura, hytrin, and flomax.

I also suggest you give the IC diet a try. The link to the latest food list is in my signature below.

    Sending well wishes,
    Donna

Yes, I have tried Pyridium but got allergic reaction to it. It didn't help much anyway. I already had tests to rule out kidney stones, urinary tract abnormalities, multiple urine cultures, pelvic issues (transvaginal ultrasound, pap smear) etc. etc. all came back negative. Dipstick urine tests always shows blood though.

I've done my research and feel 99% sure that it's IC. It feels as if someone was cutting up my bladder with a razor, when I go pee - it doesn't go easy, I strain and little urine comes out. It's all very, very painfull - almost like my kidneys were producing acid.

Hi,please don't feel like your life is ruined.I'm in a horrid flare right now too.I have new symptoms that I have never had before. The pain and pressure I feel, feels like a really heavy pressure in my "bottom"area. It not only hurts but sort of burns too besides the usual urethral burn and frequency.I had pressure before but only for a day or so around my period, not lasting.Sorry to ramble on but long story short........I've had IC for more than 10 years, maybe since childhood.I am 45 now.I started Atarax last spring and I improved a lot!I felt almost normal at times. My period usually flared me but didn't last real long.I think I ate too many "no"foods and I did exercises such as sit-ups and the"stepper."I am now finding out that those type of exercises are bad for PFD.There are things out there that can improve your symptoms. That is what is so tricky about treating IC,some of us have different symptoms and need different treatments.Hope you feel better soon and find a treatment that is right for you.Better days are ahead!Keep the faith.I know I am.

    Take care,
    Duana

please dont panick. you may not necessarily have IC. A good urologist can rule other conditions out first. It could be kidney/bladder stones, yeast infections,bv, and stds can give people urinary symptoms also. it could also be stress who knows. good luck

I'm so sorry you're in this much pain! I think your asking for a referral to see a urologist is a great idea. You're right, if it's IC then Cipro is not going to be helpful. Hopefully with a uro you will get some answers. If it is IC there are treatments that can help and the sooner you have that diagnosis, the sooner you can begin them.

Most of us do get better once diagnosed & treated. For many of us the IC diet can make a big difference so you might want to check it out if you haven't already.

    started a topic Horrible pain!

    Horrible pain!

The pain is insane! Doctor gave me Cipro but it's not an UTI, I'm going to ask for a referral to a urologist because I've been having IC symptoms for over 8 weeks now. I got it under control for a while by drinking lots of marshmallow tea, but after I took my ADD meds (Vyvanse) it came back.

I can't focus at work because I'm hurting so bad. Yes, I have rxd. Vicodin but when I take it it makes me "looped" and I can hardly drive myself home.

How do you all deal with this at work, managing family life etc.?

I already take Wellbutrin XL 150 for depression but this is just making me want to drive off the cliff. I feel like my life has been ruined...can no longer enjoy things and dealing with daily pain is not fun!
