    Finally diagnosed after a year of symptoms!!

    Hi,

    I have been on these boards for a good few months now. I have suffered from frequency and now horrible on/off burning since April 2010. Have had an in office cysto which showed nothing and I really didnt want a hydro just incase it made me any worse. So... I was hoping that I might be diagnosed based on symptoms. But I thought that might not be possible- especially in te UK where ic is not recognised to begin with..

    Well, I had a urodynamics test yesterday and I was convinced I would be misdiagnosed with just oab instead of ic or even ic & oab. It turned out that my bladder is not overactive. This meant that my uro was willing to diagnosed me based on symptoms!! wooo finally!!

    Im not happy to have ic but I knew it was that from ages ago and just wanted someone to listen to me. This uro has been amazing and has started me on uracyst instills next week. Hope they work but I am just glad someone is finally helping me!!

    I am in a good mood for the first time in ages and I see a small light at the end of the tunnel now!

      Sara! Sorry to hear you have IC I was just diagnosed on April 27th 2011 also. I wish you the best of luck and your treatment plan moving forward. So grateful for the site for us all to comfort and help each other!

              Somehow, it was a huge relief when I was diagnosed --- I still remember most of the conversation with my uro back in 1975.

              Now you can begin with treatment and hopefully will feel better soon.

                  Sorry you have IC but, at least your Uro is starting a treatment plan. I hope all goe's well for you keep in touch.
