  • I was diagnosed with IC

Because my urologist wasn't doing anything for the pain, I made an appointment with an urologist who is specialized in IC.

I had to fill in some forms and he took time for me. He told me interesting things about IC. He said that our organs 'talk' with eachother. My uterus is removed and that can't cause any problems anymore, but the signal now goes to the bladdernerves. This is one off the causes. I had many UTI's as a child also. And now the bladder isn't working as it should. It's damaged.

I also have urethrotrigonitis. But this I allready knew.

I was treated with Lidocaine and it releaved my from my pain. It was nice. But the pain is back again.

Now I am on medication. Versicare 10mg, Amytriptiline 10mg and Elmiron as well. End of june I have to come back. If I have any questions or problems I can call him.

He is soo different from my other urologist. He is friendly, honoust, but also direct. And doesn't make it any nicer then it is.

I'm not happy with the diagnose, but it's good to know what's wrong with me. And I have an urologist wich I feel good with!!

I hope to find support and information about IC. Wich I will!!

It's good to have a diagnosis. Lidocaine doesn't last a long time, but it's great to relieve pain on a short term basis. The other medications will take a little longer.

Are you following an IC diet? That could help more than anything. You'll find a link to the latest food list in my signature below.

      HI Donna,

Thank you for your reply. It's helpfull.

I know that some foods en drinks can make the IC worse. I'm trying to follow the diet. But I find it hard. Espacial the coffee, because I like to drink that.

I'm not in a lot of pain at the moment. Wich is good. But it also makes me doubt the diagnosis. And I wonder if I should under go an biopsie to make sure it's IC.

The other urologist said I had Urethrotrigonitis and that gives the same symptoms.

The urologist I'm seeing now, knows a lot about IC. He explains everything and is really listening.

      Lots of love

        Hi Inger,

It sounds like you've found a gem for a doctor! That can make such a difference.

I'm not in a lot of pain at the moment. Wich is good. But it also makes me doubt the diagnosis. And I wonder if I should under go an biopsie to make sure it's IC.
I'm guessing many of us have to go through the process where we wonder if we've gone far enough to track down the real cause. Have you spoken to your doctor about your concerns on this?

I hear you on the coffee as that was a tough one for me to quit! It turned out I am very diet sensitive. In a way that's good for me because the incentive of little to no symptoms makes a great pay-off!

You need to be checked for ic to be absolutly possitive. then you and your uro can work on a better treatment plan.
