While I do know that some people do have psychologically caused pain, I firmly believe interstitial cystitis is a physical disease. When I first developed symptoms I had a physician tell me my problem was in my head. I walked out of his office never to return. I then made an appointment with a different doctor and told him what I had been told --- his response was that the problem was in my bladder and he suggested I see a urologist. I was diagnosed by hydrodistention.

Maybe some bladder problems can be psychological, but I firmly believe interstitial cystitis does not fall in that category. "Old school" thinking was that interstitial cystitis was a disease of neurotic women! Thank God that thinking went down the drain years ago.

I do agree that PAIN can be psychologically caused. But if there is a visible, diagnosable disease, such as interstitial cystitis present, it's not psychologically caused. Sometimes relaxation techniques can help with the bladder spasms that often accompany IC, it's not a cure.

I am extremely hesitant about allowing testimonials on sales sites to influence treatments.

I agree partially with some of the things he's saying just based on my research I have done lately on IC. But like Donna said it's a site where he sells his own treatments. So I would be hesitant to start treatments he's offering based just on his recommendation.

But I am glad you've shared. It's always interesting to read about alternative theories and treatments. It's up to forum members to judge for themselves what treatments they want to go for so it's nice to have optional theories.

EDIT: Understand Donna's just trying to protect those members here who might be enticed to go to his site and try and find their miracle cure before trying safer and more proven tried and true IC treatments. I personally think that people (yes even newbies) are able to decide for themselves what they want to do. So I understand Donna's caution but I also appreciate people sharing various treatment options.

I've read 3 books about it by 2 different doctors. i decided to try another doctors course bc his book takes forever to arrive by post. I orginally heard about the first doctor at RSI pain seminar where people found permanent relief from that condition. I actually tried it for RSI and it helped me.

Then recently i read about IC with it. Hence going to try it for this.

If anyone wants to read about it, there are books out there by doctors google TMS pain syndrome & IC. Oh and they do say need to rule out psychical causes first.

I wish you the best of luck. If it does work I'd love to hear it. Same if it doesn't. I hope you'll reconsider sharing your results. This is a community and part of a community is about sharing with others. I see you deleted your first post. It's a shame but I understand why you did.

It is a community & definitely ideas about how to manage IC are welcome, but the forum does have to ask that people refrain from advertising posts. Our forum would be quickly overrun by advertising and lose its primary focus if it didn't have this policy...

I didn't notice any advertising? While she did mention he has a website her post was more about the research he has done and theories he has come up with. If you're talking about her posting his books/other books that makes me sad if we can't do that because I love finding new reading materials about IC.

May I ask why? She could have been told to edit her title with a warning or something like, "Unconventional treatment ideas in this post, use your own judgment first."

Unless it's a link to like a porn site or something completely unrelated to IC I don't understand why members aren't allowed to judge for themselves. Just because the website might list treatments that we don't agree upon I just think members are capable of using common sense.

We have a forum policy that does not allow advertising. The reason for this is that we are a support site --- and if we were to allow everyone to come here to advertise their products, it would be difficult to find the posts that are actually offering support.

Anyone wanting to see products advertised for interstitial cystitis can easily find them with an internet search --- there are hundreds of sites to explore. (Correction: I just googled "interstitial cystitis treatments" and there were 918,000 results).

I will be closing this thread and ask that the subject not be reopened.
