Hi everyone,
I have recently visited a urologist after having rather constant bladder and urethal pain over the past 2 months. I had some symtoms from time to time through the years, but nothing this steady. I am 70. Anyway, he did a bladder exam, with the little camera (I don't know all the terminology), and also a uro-dynamic test (that was pretty misable).
He wasn't definite about a diagnosis, but said I wasn't emptying the bladder completely and explained that; said to follow the IC diet, gave me a prescription for the orange pills (forgot the name), said to come back in 6 months. He had originally said he felt I had IC, but the only way to diagose was to rule out other things. I only have frequentcy, which increased a lot over the past 2 months. However, I've always had that to some extent.
So, I am experimenting with various things to feel better. I have some days where I'm mostly pain-free, and the pain is manageable the rest of the time. I'm not taking any meds for it, except occasionally a couple Tylenol. I'm going to ask my reg doc for a tylernol with codeine script, as the urologist suggested I should.
I am trying to follow the IC diet as best I can...really miss coffee and all the fruit I was eating - especially as I am a Weight Watcher member and free fruit was added to the new program!
My main question for tonight: is there any sugar substitute which will not irritate the bladder? I was wondering about Stevia?
I have other questions, because of all the wonderful information on here, thank God for this site! Thank you!
