I will be having neck surgery in the next few months for degenerated disks. They will be giving me a narcotic for pain for a while after the surgery. I have never taken Anything other than Tramadol and have been told this will not be strong enough. I was wondering if people could share what type of pain meds they have taken after major surgery that has not flared their IC, or had bad side effects. Many thanks!

Pain meds after neck surgery

I actually have had neck surgery --- I have a fusion --- it was interesting to see the x-ray after surgery and realize that was in MY neck.Thankfully, the surgery was successful and eliminated the neck pain. It's been a long time, but I think it was vicodin. I didn't need many after I was discharged from the hospital. The only problem I have ever had with pain meds is nausea and it's controlled with zofran.
Good luck with the surgery.
Hugs,
