  • Pain meds after neck surgery

I will be having neck surgery in the next few months for degenerated disks. They will be giving me a narcotic for pain for a while after the surgery. I have never taken Anything other than Tramadol and have been told this will not be strong enough. I was wondering if people could share what type of pain meds they have taken after major surgery that has not flared their IC, or had bad side effects. Many thanks!

I actually have had neck surgery --- I have a fusion --- it was interesting to see the x-ray after surgery and realize that was in MY neck. Thankfully, the surgery was successful and eliminated the neck pain. It's been a long time, but I think it was vicodin. I didn't need many after I was discharged from the hospital. The only problem I have ever had with pain meds is nausea and it's controlled with zofran.

    Good luck with the surgery.

    Stay safe
