  • Pregnancy + macrobid

My husband and I just began TTC. We did not have sex for five months prior because of the pain associated with it. Now that we are trying, we obviously must have sex. I don't experience much pain while we are having sex, but begin to have spasms soon after that keep me up at night and seem to last hours. I take one-two macrobids to avoid infection as I never seem to know if I am just flaring or if it is the beginning of a UTI. I haven't taken pyridium in a couple years, but with the increase in sexual activity, I am finding the flaring is almost too much to take and I can't sleep as a result, but scared to take it because we are trying to concieve. Is pyridium o.k. to take or any suggestions on how to ease the spasms after sex?
I was also taking aloe vera pills per my urologists requests and they seemed to really help, but I went off of them about four months ago to try and rid my body of any meds before trying to get pregnant. I am wondering if I should start to take them again to help ease some of the pain in this process, but don't know if those are o.k. either. Doc says they are, but wanted to hear from someone who might have used them during pregnancy and had success with their babies.

Any help is greatly appreciated as I am trying my best to make this TTC process at least somewhat pleasureable/endurable.

pyridium is OK to take while TTC....and is even OK during pregnancy as long as it's not for an extended period of time.

try putting an ice pack directly on your crotch right after sex, give yourself a quick wipe with a warm wet washcloth and then apply the ice pack (with something over it of course!) it will numb everything up and will help to keep your bladder from spazing as much!

and don't forget to pee once you go numb...and then lay back down with more ice!

trust me i have been there and know what your going through....i use ace reusable ice packs that come in an ace bandage sleeve....they work very well!

    Good luck TTC

    Meds that did not help:
    Detrol LA
    Lexapro (caused urgency)
Amatryptaline 10mg once a day (helped IC but made me feel like CRAP)

Thank you so much for your feedback! It sounds horrible, but it is comforting to know that someone else has been through what I am going through. I never thought of the ice pack after, so thanks. I am sure that will help. Thanks! I had heard that lubricants are bad when TTC, but there is NOOO way that we could without it. Any suggestions there?

I have read that pre-seed is good for ttc. It suppose to not harm the sperm and is actually good for helping them swim to where they need to go ;-)
I haven't tried it yet, but if we weren't successful this month I will buy some for next.
