My husband and I are going to try to start having a baby. My questions are if I am allowed to use Prelief, AZO yeast and heating pads while I am trying to conceive? I know I am not allowed to use heating pads after I am pregnant, but did not know if it was okay while trying. After pregnant, can I use prelief and AZO yeast also?

Kristi...I think it would be a good idea to ask these questions of your gyn. Everyone is different. What is okay for one person may not be okay for another. Have you had or thought about having a prepregnant consult with your doctor?
I hope to be seeing an announcement from you about a baby being on the way very soon. (((hugs)))Last edited by SharonA; 06-07-2007, 09:31 AM.Sharon

I was going to say the same thing Sharon did. Go to an OB/GYN and have a pre conception appointment. This way you can find out what you should and shouldn't be taking, along with vitamins and folic acid, etc.*IC-- Summer 2004; PFD--October 2005
*Fibro--Fall 2000; CFS-- Fall 2000
*MPS--Fall 2000; Crohn's disease-- 1997*IBS,GERD, *Migraines, hypothyroidism, GYN problems *Degenerative Disc Disease/scoliosis
Total Abdominal Hysterectomy--adenomyosis--9\08
04/17/09 Crohn's disease almost killed me with a combo of extreme constipation from pain medications. My bowel ruptured, I almost died from peritonitis and spent several days in the ICU then more in a private room on the floor. If you have any questions about severe constipation from pain meds please don't hesitate to send me a message.

I went in to my gyno yesterday and had a list of other questions. I forgot to ask these but am planning on calling today and asking. I did however find out that I have one of the worst yeast infections he has seen, which was great! I have been trying to tell his office for a month now that I am itching and have black coming out of my vagina, but apparently they did not believe me until yesterday. They have been giving me somewhat of a hard time because I have been in there so much, but between all of my yeast infections, UTI's and diagnosis of IC I should be in there alot. I just didn't want to "bother" them again. I will call though, they will just have to get over it. Thanks. I hope to be sending an announcement soon also. I will be praying for it!Diagnosed with IC - March 2007

prelief is safe while TTC and during pregnancy, uristat is ok while TTC but not reccomended during pregnancy, and you can use a warm heating pad while TTC and during pregnancy for IC pain.
this is what MY OB told me....but you should get your own obs medical adviceErika

Thanks for the replies. I have considered looking around for another gyno, but am hesitant since I have used him for about eight or nine years now. My mom and sister uses him and he knows all of my history. I have had problems with my periods, dysplasia, apparently yeast infections this year, allergies, and now IC. I might change depending on how mad his office makes me. Is it harder for those that have IC to conceive?Diagnosed with IC - March 2007

Well first I would like to say GOOD LUCK TO YOU!!!! I wish you all the best in trying to get PG.
To your question is it harder for IC pt's to get PG? For myself....I would have to say NO. It is truly different for each person. I was told a long time ago that I would never have kids....due to female issues....but I have been very blessed. I have 3 kids. My youngest is 9months old and my oldest is 10 and my middle 1 is 3yrs old.
My advise for getting PG is this......try to figure out ur body....when u ovulate. There are signs...mucas thicking things like that. Once u figure that part out then you can "plan" your days to "play". Try to relax...I know it is hard even with the IC but try. After you play, just lay there for a lil bit...don't get up right away. That is really all the advise that I have for you.
But I wish you all the best in trying. Take care and hope to be hearing good news in the future.Live your life to YOUR best, and Love to YOUR best!!!

I agree with stac, I don't think it was any more difficult to concieve after the dx than before. But I guess we weren't trying!!! Also too, I'm EXTREMELY fertile, or WAS until hysterectomy...lol I got pregnant with #1 on the pill, #2 Depo shot, hubby had a vasectomy and 9 years later we had #3!IC Angel: Proudly supporting the Children and the Elderly with IC.
