  • Polycystic Ovary Syndrome and IC/PFD

I have had IC and/or PFD for years. For the last 6 months I have beeen trying to get pregnant. I have always had irregular periods, and was taking Clomid. I recently learned that I have Polycistic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS). One of the symptoms is enlarged ovaries, and another is pelvic floor pain (!!!). I am now planning to investigate whether there is a relationship for me between the two areas. Has anyone else run into this? If you have, I really would like to know. Please send a "cc" of your reply to my e-mail address, which is [email protected]

Lori, I also am trying to get pregnant taking Clomid. I haven't been officially diagnosed with PCOS, although my gyn. says that's most likely what is going on with me. My IC pain can be quite severe, in my pelvic area and also my back and abdomen. I had an ultrasound when I was diagnosed with IC, that covered my entire pelvic/abdominal area, and everything was ok, so I don't think I have enlarged ovaries. One thing I am curious about is the hormonal component of PCOS and how it affects IC. I am only just starting to check all this stuff out, and so it was neat to see your post and to know that I am not alone! I wish you blessings in getting pregnant - I am starting my second month on an increased dose of Clomid. It's not easy, is it? Let me know how you are doing and what you are finding out.

FYI - When you post a message, there is a box to check that indicates whether or not you want the ICN to automaticly e-mail you any responses to your posts. It's in the "options" section. It's a super handy thing. Have a great day!

    Blessings,
    Kelly

I heard from one other person who also has IC and PCOS, so we are definitely not alone out there. I was on a low dose (one pill per day) of clomid for 5 months and realised that I was not ovulating, so I am at the beginning of this journey also (it seems like forwver!!). I am planning to give my infertility specialist a whole lot of information about IC, and a transcript of the chat about the correlation between IC and hormones. The guy that I am going to see is a specialist in PCOS at a top NY clinic, and that either means that he will be interested enough to spend the time figuring this out, or that he will be too busy to devote time to the question. I'll have to see which it is. My appointment is on June 19, and I will post here when I find anything out. Meanwhile, there are a few websites with more informtion on PCOS if you are interested. They are: www.resolve.org www.americaninfertility.org (has a PCOS board) http://www.soulcysters.com/

      Good luck to you!!

I've never been diagnosed with PCOS, but I have read a LOT about it & I have most of the symptoms, with the exception of infertility. I also have IC. I would be very interested in finding out more on the relationship between the two.
