• TTC and looking for help with flare...

Hi all!

I haven't posted in a while...been busy enjoying being a mommy. Olivia is doing wonderful, she's 18 mo now and is a happy, spirited, attachment parented, breastfeeding toddler. We'd love to give her a brother or sister and just started TTC again this month. We don't know if it's even possible, but we were given one miracle so we think we'll try for another. It's been a little bit of an emotional struggle trying to decide when or whether to try for many reasons. I won't get into them too much, basically we know we'll have another high risk pregnancy and have to be prepared for earlier and longer bedrest this time. I worried so much about what that would to to Olivia, but I think we've finally decided that if it's meant to be, it'll happen and turn out the way it's supposed to.

Now on to my problem... After only one ovulation cycle of TTC, I'm in misery. I can't use my TENS unit or heat therapy of any kind in case I'm pregnant. I also don't want to use pain meds except ibuprofen and tylenol. I do pretty good with the IC diet.

Is there anything I can be doing to help? Would it do me any good to try Elmiron? I've wanted to try but haven't gotten up the nerve to ask my nurse practitioner yet (I'm breastfeeding and she didn't want to give it to me but now I have Dr Hale's medications book so I can give her a copy of what he has to say). I'm not afraid to keep going with it during pregnancy (and my perinatologist actually suggested it last time) if I knew if it would work. It seems like this might be the only thing I can do.

I also worry that my bladder being so irritated (I also have endometriosis and IBS and they all irritate each other it seems) will hurt a pregnancy. I wondered if that had anything to do with our pre-term labor the first time...the dr says no that there were other factors, but you have to wonder, it also didn't do me any good to have to be getting up to pee so much on bedrest.

Anyway, hello to all and best wishes to all the new mommies (and not-so-new mommies) and all those TTC!

Darcy and Olivia (18 mo)

Hey Darcy,
It is good to hear from you. It's so hard to be on the computer w/a little one. Zane is crawling now!!! I'm so proud. With him being premature I didn't know what to expect. He'll be 8 months the 12th of Sept.

Now..........I'm not sure about most treatments but..........with the Elmiron, it takes so long to get in your system, would it start working too late for you in a pregnancy now??? I'm not sure I would ask your doctor.

I wish you all the luck in your pregnancy now(??) or in the near future. Give Olivia big **hugs** from us.

Oh Hi Jaime!

I can't believe Zane is 8 months already! I just looked at your profile picture...what a cutie!!! You look like such a happy mommy! It's so good to hear from you! How are you and Zane doing?

I agree with what you said about the Elmiron. It would take a long time, then it might help and might not. Still, it could take me a few months to get pregnant too (if we can). I think I may wait and see what happens this month and maybe consider giving it a try...oh, what to do?!

Anyway, it't good to see you're still posting! I haven't been here much, in fact it's been a while since I checked in. It's hard finding enough minutes in the day (I'm sure you know). But oh so worth it and wonderful!

Hugs to you two too!
(Oh, I love these new smilies!)
