  • PaceMaker and Pregancy

    Hello
Im the mother with a daughter, Liz 29, who has IC and a PaceMaker and has been given the ok by her doctor to get pregnant. Its been a long struggle to get off the pain drugs (the doctors never thought this would happen), and three operations to have the pacemaker work correctly. She also had pudendal neuralgia but botox took care of this pain.
We are looking for advice in regards to the pacemaker and if any of you ladies have had to deal with turning off the pacemaker and when did you turn if off, did your leads move while you where pregnant and did you have a scheduled c section.
Medtronic the maker of her pacemaker, has no information, and advised to turn it off.
Any helpful advice on how you handled this and your pregnancy would be appreciated.
    Have a good day,
    Cici

Do you mean a pacemaker for a heart problem? If that's the case, my suggestion is to see a neonatologist (a physician who deals with high risk pregnancies). However, since you posted on a forum for interstitial cystitis, you might mean the interstim? (Medtronic makes several different medical devices) Even if that's what you mean, my suggestion is the same. If she has already seen an OB doctor, that doctor would probably do a little research for her.

Please let me know what you find out.

    Warm hugs,
    Donna
