  • Another baby on the way

    Hi all,

Just found out this week that I'm pregnant. As soon as I found out, I stopped the Elmiron. So far no IC symptoms. It is scary - this is completely a surprise for me and my husband. Ellen, our daughter, will be 3 when the little one arrives. I think she'll be excited, since she has been requesting a baby that cries for some time. She'll get more than she bargained for.

Well wishes to all. Anyone had any experience with Elmiron during pregnancy? A little concerned about taking it during the first week when I didn't know I was pregnant.

    Thanks,

    Melly

    Melly,
That is such great news. I don't know anything about the Elmiron and pregnancy issue. I am sure someone else will chime in on this.

            baby Congratulations! baby

Thanks for sharing your great news with us!

As for Elmiron and pregnancy, when I asked my urologist about that, he said that there have not been any long-term studies done on the effects of Elmiron and pregnancy due to the obvious ethical issues, and it is a relatively new medication. Personally I wouldn't take Elmiron if I were pregnant, but I would discuss your questions and concerns with your doctor.

            Take care,
            Alexa

Thanks to everything for the wishes and the support. I am still reeling from the news, just an emotional time, not knowing whether I will be able to handle another one. Deep down, I feel that it is meant to be, just happened a year sooner than I would have liked. So far the IC remains in remission. Just hope it remains that way. For now, it's one day at a time, and lots of water.

                  Hugs to all,

                  Melly
