  • Found out I'm pregnant!

On my road to diagnosis, I discovered I have endomitriosis, and PCOS. My doctor told me it would be incredibly hard, if not impossible, to get pregnant. I believed him, because I was barely able to have sex at the time, I had so much pelvic pain.

I'm pregnant. Just found out today. We'd only been trying for two months. I thought nothing would ever be easy again when I was diagnosed with IC.... apparently, getting pregnant is.

This is the best day of my entire life.
    Symtoms started July 2010.
    Severe pelvic floor pain only.

    2 time PT graduate!
In medical remission since August 2011; able to eat and drink anything I want currently.

    IC meds:
200 mg Elmiron in the morning
    100 mg Elmiron @ night
    Macrobid after intercourse

If at first you don't succeed: 07/26/2013!

Congratulations!!! I have PCOS too, was diagnosed when I was 18 and told the same thing. I was so devastated to learn that at 18! I had my daughter when I was 21!!! Haha, what did they know! I would have waited till I was older but it sure was nice being 39 and my child was already out of high school.

Congrats Again!!! It sure is great when they are wrong!

              Hi,

I'm a few weeks behind you and just wondered how your getting on with your pregnancy and if your ic is behaving? I was on amitriptyline and vesicare up until the day I got my bfp, I stopped them both immediately after speaking to some of the girls on here the same day. I'm surprised at how well my ic is behaving apart from a few little flares and was certainly missing the extra pain meds then.

I am meeting my midwife for the first time on Wednesday and hoping she will be more helpful in person instead of on the phone. She offered no advice re heat pads etc and re starting meds if I need to. Told me to see my doc until she takes over my care . Xx

I was also on amitriptyline until the day I got my bfp, as well as hydroxyzine, and Elmiron. (Which I am still on). I was also taking muscle relaxers a couple of times a day for my PFD. My gyno okayed me staying on all of these until I was pregnant, and then discontinuing use. I have been off all meds other than Elmiron for over three weeks. I am feeling... great! My PFD even seems to have quieted down and I haven't even needed to use my heating pad in about 6 weeks. That said, I have mild IC, and flares have not been something I've had issues with in the past. As long as I stick to the diet, I am pretty close to normal, other than my pelvic floor. I am definitely peeing more frequently now... but that's pretty par for the course! I actually have a NORMAL reason for frequent peeing. I'm loving it!

My uro said that heating pads are fine to use... the only thing to keep in mind is that you want to keep your body temperature below 102 at all times.. and if you're using a heating pad on low, that really shouldn't be an issue at all. I'm super jealous of you getting to see a midwife. My insurance doesn't cover them at all.

And I just saw that you were 5 weeks on the 11th- which actually makes you a few days AHEAD of me! I just found out really, really early.
