  • Ultrasound Irritating bladder?

I had my 8 week ultrasound yesterday (baby is healthy and we got to see the heartbeat!). I had to have a full bladder, and the tech pushed, prodded and put a lot of pressure on my bladder during the ultrasound (she had to, she wasn't being mean, haha).

Last night and today I feel a lot of pressure/pain in my pelvic area around my bladder. Could the ultrasound have irritated it? My only symptoms normally are urgency/frequency.

Yes! I am always uncomfy during those. They push hard! It's so worth it to see your baby though.

I hope the pressure feeling is gone by now. Isn't it exciting to see your little one?

I'm 9 weeks pregnant and have IC... This isn't related to the ultrasound question but I am new and can't figure out how to post.. Anyone have flares directly after taking their prenatal vitamin? I'll take it night to help w nausea But then literally pee every 10 minutes for several hours. Wondering if the vitamin is causing irritation ? Any advice ?

Elilley426, I realized I was having a reaction to my prenatal, so I had to stop taking it. I have yet to find a multivitamin that doesn't have Vitamin C or B in it (the things I think are causing the flares). I'm taking DHA and folic acid supplements right now, but no prenatal. I'm going to talk to my midwife about this at my next appointment. I obviously want the baby to get the nutrients it needs, but I don't want to be in pain either.

And yes, Donna, it was very exciting. This is our third baby (I have a 5 year old daughter, and a 2 year old son). The IC symptoms started when I got pregnant with this baby, so it has been a rocky start to say the least. But seeing that little fluttering heartbeat yesterday made me feel a little better.

Oh, and I forgot to say that my bladder seems to have calmed down now. It took a day, but I'm feeling better. Nauseous, but better. haha.

Erin thank you for the response.. I'll have to talk to my OBGYN about it bc I can't handle the constant peeing.. This is my first pregnancy so I'm not sure what to expect but my IC was pretty severe prior to TTC. I changed my diet and came off meds and it got better but it's flared right back up now

You might want to print out the information on MultiRight vitamins available in the ICN Shop and ask your midwife about taking those. They were developed specifically for IC patients --- and they aren't expensive.
