  • No period five months

    Hi everyone. I'm writing for advice. I stopped taking birth control back in December. After stopping I had a period. That was December 29. It's now May and I haven't had a period since! I called my gynecologist but he is gone until June. What should I do? I tried vitex but it flares me! I also took several pregnancy tests over several weeks and they are all negative.
    Update! Feeling much better these days and no longer on any meds!

    Pelvic pain began July 2008. Urinary frequency began in November of 2008. IC Doctor says I'm one of the worst frequency patients he has had.

    Things that helped me the most: IC Diet, Elavil (30mg), Elmiron since June '09 (500mg/day).

    Previously tried and quit: one series of six instillations, Neurontin, Ditropan, Oxytrol, electric stimulation to the pelvic floor, Desert Harvest Aloe, Cystoprotek and Flomax, Hydroxyzine (50mg), Alesse Birth control (this helped my period flares when my symptoms used to be bad), PTNS (I think this helped).

    I sent you a private message about this! Good luck to you. I suffered from infertility for years before treatments finally allowed me to have 2 babies. I did not have IC during that time, though so I never had to deal with both at the same time. I'm sure that is not easy! I recommended a website to you that is much like this one only its about getting pregnant and all things babyhood. It helped me a lot!
    Live life to the fullest day to day. The best way to eat an elephant is one bite at a time!

      If youre looking to make your period start, go to your pharmacist and ask him/her to order you some Humphreys 11. its an old-school "remedy", if you will, that'll bring on a period as long as youre not pregnant.

        When I went off BC for a period of time I have one period and then no period for 8 months and I was not prego. It takes your body some time to recognize that the synthetic hormone isnt there anymore and for it to start producing your natural estrogen and progesterone again. This is no uncommon for women who go off BC. If I dont take BC I don't have a period either for months at a time and then when I do it it he**!!!!!
        Diagnosis: IC '09, vulvodynia '10, fructose intolerance '06, GERD '06, fibromyalgia '09, IBS '10 and TMJ '09, PCOS '11, genital herpes '12

        Current Meds: Butrans patch, welbutrin, lamictol, geodon, xanax, aldactone, linzess, topimax, trazadone and diflucan as needed.

        Meds tried before: Elmiron, elavil, antibiotics, welbutrin, cymbalta, prozac, nerve blocks, instills, nyastatin, flexerol, percocet, naproxen (which was what I was given for pain for years).

          Same thing happened to me years ago. I took BC but it made me so sick I didn't finish the month.

          I didn't have a period for more than 6 Mons, finally my GP gave me some sort of med which he said would cause me to have a period. I took this med I got a period and then they came reg after that. He was not willing to go this route till I had past the 6 Mons mark.

          I went on later in life to conceive 4 X's with no problems.

          Just my suggestion but if you are not trying to conceive I would just enjoy the time you have with no periods, but that's just me my periods were awful, the reason I tried the BC in the first place.

          Try not to stress about this too much it won't help you. MG
          My are with you all. May you all find a way to peace and joy in your lives.

            Lord, make me an instrument of your peace;
            where there is hatred, let me sow love;
            when there is injury, pardon;
            where there is doubt, faith;
            where there is despair, hope;
            where there is darkness, light;

            Grant that I may not so much seek

            to be understood, as to understand,
            to be loved as to love;
