  • Justin is sick

Hi y'all. Last night Justin had a low fever. He had been a little warm off and on all week, but usually was running around the house like all little boys do. Well, I took him to the doctor this morning. Actually, we saw the nurse practitioner, Marty. I like her better anyway. She kept listening and lestening to Justin. It took forever. I was panicked. It does not take this long to listen to a kid's chest. Well, he has an infection, probably pneumonia. Without tests, we'll not know. But he also has a sinus infection, is coughing up stuff and is very stuffy. So, we were sent home with 5 prescriptions. He is on 2 different inhalers every 4 hours, a steroid, and Zithromax. It scared me so much. I thought with his stuffy nose and fever, he probably had strep throat. I did not realize he was THIS sick. I am so glad I took hiim to the doctor today. If I had waited, he probably would have ended up in the ER over the weekend. My theory is usually "if it's not bleeding or broken, go play" So, just a warning ot other Mom's... it may be more serious than you think! ") Michelle

I'm so glad you took him in. I know when my kids were little I would far better take them to the doctor and find they didn't need it than take a chance that they might need medical attention and not get it.

Give him a hug for me.

The drugs are really wearing him down. The steroids are causing him to have dark rings under his eyes. At least I think it's them. He is tired all the time and even asked me at 6:30 tonight if it was time for bed yet! I made him lay down in my bed for a nap at 12:30 and when I went in there 2 minutes later to lay down with him he was sound asleep. And he was hogging all 3 pillows!! Grrrr. I am stingy with my pillows. He only has 3 more days of steroids. 4 more days of antibiotics and who knows how many more days of the inhalers. We'll definately be praying for him at church tomorrow. Justin went to the doc yesterday for a check up. He is still not breathing enough. So, he is going to be on his inhaler - indefinately - for at least a year. Twice daily. Flovent. And the doctor has put him on Zyrtec for his seasonal allergies. This can also help with the asthma. So, I guess it's official. Both of my kids now have asthma. Yippee.

I hope Justin feels better soon. It is so hard when our little ones are sick. Let him get as much rest as needed, it will help him get better. My son is seven and has asthama, he was diagnosed with it when he was two months old, he was on a few diferent inhalers, and steriods now it is pretty much under control, except when he gets sick we have to do in home breathing treatments.
Hopefully after Justin is on them for a while he wont need them anymore.
