  • Justin has Strep Throat ..... AGAIN!

So far - in 5 months - he has had Strep twice and severe tonsilitis once. I am tired of his "rope" hurting. Poor Baby! He hates medicine. He's so clingy anyway, but when he's sick, he's worse. Whiny, etc. Makes me crazy. banghead Anyway, just had to unload for awhile. Michelle in KC

I am so sorry that your little Justin has strep throat. There are so many cases right now. But in five months him having it twice and tonsilitis too.. have they talked about taking his tonsils out? How old is he?
I hope he gets better soon and his little "rope" is on the mend. You are in my thoughts...sleepless nights and "LOOOONNGGG days" have to be wearing you down too.
    Take Care!
    Hugs..

Do the hokey pokey and you turn yourself around..that's what it's all about..whoooo!

According to his doc, it's not often enough to take them out. Grrrr. His 'rope' is better this morning. he ate a chocolate fudge bar for breakfst! hehe. After I made him eat toast and a yogurt. He's watching Spongebob and waiting until I take him to daycare and me to work. I don't have to be in until 10 today. But then again, I do have to work until 7. THanks for your post. Michelle in KC

My daugthera also had strep 6 times in 6 months, we found out her sister is a carrier of strep, but never gets strep. We had the one with all the strep outbreaks tonsils and adnoids taken out. She has had only 1 sore throat in 3 years and it was sinus drainage that caused that. I feel for you and all you must live thru with strep. My daughters tonsils were so embedded from the scarring, it took twice as long for the surgery then expected. Please have an ENT take a look for a second opion.

hi- I had lots of strep and tonstilitis when I was younger. When I was eight I had my tonsils and adnoids taken out. Wow, never really got a sore throat again. Hope that you can get your problem resolved. Take care

My one daughter is very prone to strep and gets it at least twice a year but my other children never get it.
Leslie - How do you find out if one of my other children is the carrier for strep? I have my suspesions that it's my oldest. She's always complaining about a sore throat but there's never anything there. She had her adnoids taken out last year because of terrible allergies and it really didn't help her at all. I feel so sorry for her all the time.
Michelle- you should really check out more about what's going on with your son and the strep. My girlfriends daughter kept getting it over and over again and it went so deep in your throat (not to scare you) that she had to have her tonsils removed. I heard that the strep virus is getting so strong that there having a problem with it because antibiotics aren't clearing it up anymore.
            Good Luck!

I had my tonsils and adenoids removed 50 years ago. I still get the worst sore throats of anyone in my family, including lab diagnosed strep. Removing tonsils is no guarantee of not getting more strep infections.

I am pretty sure the only way to get relief is to remove the tonsils and adnoids. The adnoids get just as infected if not worse than the tonsils.

When my daughter was four and five years old, she and I took turns for almost two years having tonsillitis caused by strep. Our ENT doctor suspected that one of us was the carrier --- so we had to wait until we were both "clear" --- then he did throat "swabs" on both of us. It turned out she was the carrier so her tonsils and adenoids were removed. For us it worked. We've neither had strep since and she's an adult now.

Most doctors don't remove tonsils and adenoids unless there's a chronic problem.

I hope by now Justin is pretty well recovered.

                  Warm hugs,
                  Donna

Maybe a bit "fashionably" late Michelle. But is Justin any better? (Since your post is 5 days old)

It's so hard on them and us when they are sick.

Hey, gals. Thanks for asking. J-man is feeling a bit better, but still extremely CRABBY... and milking it. Hey, yvette, maybe some chocolate would make him feel a bit better... unless you ate it all! hehehe. Ok, so you're going to kick my you-know-what for that one. hehehe. I might have strep now. But, I'm trying to hold out until next week to call the doc. I have a pap scheduled so I hate to pay a copay twice. Found some old antibiotic. Took a couple. hope that will get me through. :-Þ Michelle in KC kissing
