  • I could just kiss him and cry

my oldest is 5 years old, dh and I really try to hide that fact that I am sick and in pain, but my son is just to bright, and has figured it out.. he has seen me taking to the er numerous times, and know's I go to the dr a lot,.. I wish he didn't have to know, or that I would be a normal mom, who gets to do normal stuff.

Well today he said to me, mommy come look, I cleaned my room and Julianna's room (his baby sister) and I helped daddy wash the floor all so you can lay down with your heating pad and relax. I want you to feel good mommy.. well omg talk about the tears in my eyes.. he is so sweet, but for him to even have to think this way breaks my heart.

Kids have a way of sensing things when things are wrong. I believe to a certain extent it's better to be honest with your child about the most part of you being sick..Your child is so sweet though thinking of you and wanting to make things better for mommy..

          Little ones are priceless.

Yesterday Colten who is 3 came home from grandma's after a week there since I have been sick passing kidney stones and made dad stop at the store to buy me 3 little roses to make me feel better. So sweet.

Actually I think children grow up to be very caring adults when they have parents with health problems when they are little.

Our pediatrician always talked to my children about their treatments instead of to me, and he would tell my kids when they were ill that it was important that they drink a lot of fluids. So my kids always brought me drinks of water if I was not feeling well. They are all adults now, but they definitely kept me hydrated!

That is so sweet. Griffin always asks me if I'm feeling better or he'll go get me a pillow or blanket when he can tell I'm not feeling better. He's three now but when he was maybe 2 1/2 he would say things to daddy like, "mommy can't take me out of my car seat because her bladder hurts". I agree with Donna, Griffin is already a very caring person and I think that's one of the blessings of us having to deal with IC.

I have been diagnoised for 6 1/2 years now. I have taken a long break from the ICN but really miss helping out my fellow IC patients and want to get back into posting.
1st hydro 4/07 showed no visible signs of IC but tons of mast cells in all my biopsy samples which did prove IC.
2nd hydro 4/13/09 showed dark purple glomerulations and I had a capacity of 450 cc's. This hydro proved that my IC had progressed.
I have tried every oral medication as well as rescue instills and DMSO.

I have been lucky enough to see Dr Hanno, the top IC specialist in PA who has told me due to the fact that I have not responded to any "standard" treatments that I have a severe, end stage case of IC with a horrible quality of life (didn't have to tell me that last part!)

Proud wifey of Shane, mommy to Griffin, and step-mom to Logan and Gage
Also proud mom to the best Bullmastiff on earth, Claus
