  • Question about pregnancy and Interstitial Cystitis

I have a pretty mild to moderate case of Interstitial Cystitis as compared to many. Right now I am currently on birthcontrol and have several pregnancy symptoms that are uncommon for me. I highly doubt that I am pregnant (I think it is more likely stress related). However, one very odd thing that I have noticed is that the frequency in which I have to urinate has decreased. I took elmiron for a while and it helped alot with all of my symptoms but I still had to urinate much more than what is considered normal. However, in the last month the frequency has been cut in half (and I have not been on Elmiron for about 8 months). I guess what I was wondering was if anyone on here ever got pregnant and their cystitis symptoms decreased or went away?

While it's not the case for me, it is possible. Rare though. I think the study I read said 20% of women see a complete remission of their IC during pregnancy.

Thank you for answering. I took a home pregnancy test and it was negative. Like I said I thought it could be stress, but now I'm starting to think that maybe since I've been on this birth control for so long my body has changed and it is just not the right dosage for me anymore. (I have a doctor's appt in a couple of weeks). I don't know, I've read alot of post on this website, so maybe the other symptoms (or lack thereof) is my IC in remission. Either way, I'm not complaining about that!
