  • inflammation of small intestines

I have had IC for 5 years and follow a strict IC diet. For the last couple of years I go through bouts where my small intestines become inflamed and my gut bloats & I feel full. It doesn't seem to matter what I eat. My digestion seems sluggish. Last year I had a scope and it showed damage due to autoimmune condition. I 've been gluten free for about 3 years now. My physical therapist suggested a probiotic. I'm a little nervous about trying this. I tried a probiotic about 5 years ago and it upset my bladder. I am very diet sensitive. Does anyone have any luck with probiotics? Does anyone have any suggestions for what else to try?

I haven't taken them, but I do have a suggestion. You might try keeping a food and drink diary for a while to see if there's something specific that's causing your problems with digestion. If you just jot down your foods and drinks, then when you feel discomfort, check back to see if there's something you can identify as a problem.
