I was getting to a point where I was at my wit's end again with IC. For a long time I was drinking cold brewed peppermint tea throughout the day and it helped immensely. Then I cut down on that because I felt it may have been giving me reflux.
My problems came back in full force. I noticed I felt like I constantly had to pee the first 4 hours of the day at work. The only thing I could think could be causing this was the flavoring in my oatmeal. I switched to plain oatmeal but that still didn't help. I always put a spoonful of margarine in my oatmeal because I've been advised to eat fat due to my low blood sugar. I then switched to coconut oil instead and no longer feel like I have to pee all morning long at work.
I'm not sure if this will work for other people, but just wanted to throw it out there. I also started using small amounts of it in place of margarine on hot veggies that I eat at lunch and dinner.
I think this makes perfect sense. I've read there's a drug in the U.K. (cystistat?) that they infuse into the bladder and it is made from the acids in coconut oil.
