I was just diagnosed with Sjogren's Syndrome. After reading about this disease on the Internet, I am very frightened about the eventual prognosis, especially the link to lymphoma. I have been doing fairly well with my IC--just an occasional flare. I was hoping to escape all the other associated diseases that so many of you have. No such luck. Does anyone out there have Sjogren's Syndrome? How are you managing the dry eyes and dry mouth symptoms? Can you wear soft contacts? I am grateful for any guidance. Thank you!

Hi, Sorry to hear you have Sjogren's. My friend has it and she uses artificial tears eye drops and special mouth wash. She can't use her contact lens any more. There is a very good web-site for this condition. I'll ask my friend and get back to you.

Dear Sally, Sorry that I've taken a few days to get back to me. I asked my friend with MS and Sjogren's about her support group but it was one in UK. However, I put a search in on Sjogren's and came up with www.sjogrens.org. Try that and you'll find links to sites with info on sjogren's. As for the contact lens, my friend Chris can't manage any contacts but she thinks you should consult your opthalmologist. Hope this helps,
Love, Janet

Dear Janet, Thanks for the website reference. This disease is alot like IC--it's good one day and very yucky the next. Doesn't seem to matter how much water I drink, my eyes and mouth seem to have a life of their own. Where in the manual for human beings does it say that one day your body's going to do whatever it wants? Another one of life's surprises! At least, there are good days in with the bad, so you can enjoy the good ones all the more! thanks again for your email. It is very nice to meet you.
Sally
