  • Activia

So what's the verdict on Activia? I've considered trying it as it's supposed to regulate your system naturally, but am always leery of new foods. I'm currently taking a prescription laxative and would like to find an alternative to a prescription.

    Thoughts and experiences?

I love it, I have been using it for months now, and I can tell when when I have skipped for a week or so. I eat one every morning, and for me my bladder has never had problems with yogurt, so if you aren't sure, do a small test run, lol.

          Activia

I can do yogurt if it's not "light" which always has aspertame in it. As for Activia, I'm still not sure. I've been eating it for a few weeks and it does help my IBS, but I've also been noticing stomach cramps. I'm in a major flare period too, so it's difficult to know just what all the triggers are. I'm due for my rescue treatments - it's been a year since my last ones and that's about as long as they last. I'm so not looking forward to it and I always get a severe bladder infection from them too. (boo hoo)

I think it's a good idea to approach this one with caution. I only was on in for three days and it took me almost a week to recover from diarrhea and an IC flare. The remainder of the package I purchased went in the garbage.

              Activia

              Hi,
I used to eat Activia all the time, pre-IC. Not only did it help, but it was delicious! Love that vanilla.
I've been hesitant to try any yogurt since IC diagnosis, but maybe one of these days.
I hope it works for you.

                Activia

I forgot to mention that I have found oatmeal, especially the long cooking steel cut irish oatmeal, to be very helpful for dealing with irregularity.
                Maybe that will help.

Activia is a yogurt cup in different flavors and contains a laxative.

My PFD therapist recommends ground flax seeds on your morning cereal.

Determine the amt that's best for you.

Start off with 1 tablespoon and see it that agrees with you.

Activia --Vanilla is the only yogurt I have been able to tolerate so far. I didn't think it regulated me any better but I eat it because I missed yogurt and was so happy to be able to tolerate a brand now.
