  • Flax Seed

I was diagnosed with IBS today. I'm not surprised, I suspected I had it and so did my primary care. The doctor recommended 3 things

    1. 2 Tablespoons flax seed (ground) twice per day
    2. See a dietician
    3. Keep a food diary

I go back in a month to see if I am feeling better. Is anyone else taking flax seed and have you had any success?

HI! IBS is a miserable thing to have. I've had it since I was 19.....and I'm 50 now. I've tried everything through the years..including flax seed. I tried light and dark........ground and whole. It didn't work for me. Several times through the years my dr. has told me to try eating prunes.......that sounded way to easy for me.....so I kept trying other things. But he kept telling me I needed more fiber. So when I was SO bad after my gastric surgery......terrible constipation and then diarrehea.......my husband said I needed to give the prunes a try. It has worked a miracle for me. I thought it would give me diarrehea since I went back and forth with that anyway......but it didn't. I eat 4 or 5 dried prunes with breakfast.....and haven't had an IBS problem in almost 2 yrs!!!!!!! I don't get the terrible cramping after eating dinner like I used too. Sooo if you haven't tried this very easy cure.....you might give it a try. It works! Roxie

(which causes me to have constant yeast infections!)I take Cymbalta for Neuopathy/Myopathy pain. I use the Climara patch for menopause symptoms. I'm on a very strict diet because of the IC, IBS and Gastric Bypass. I take Primal Defense Probiotics and whole food Iron.
I no longer have the awful urethral pain! I've been using MSM gel now for 4 mo. and haven't had a flare up or the urethra pain.....it's amazing stuff!!:woohoo:

Hi. I thought prunes were a no-no on the IC diet. If I am mistaken I would like to know it. I suffer from constiption so bad it seems worse then the IC at times. Ziggy
