bleeeeeeeeeech is all i have to say!!
i'm also staying away from all dairy as it's an ibs trigger. oy.(Added by ICNMgrJill on 5/19/08. I am sad to share that Verdicries (aka Tracy) lost her life in a tragic accident just a few days ago. Tracy ~ 29 years old with Toxoplasmosis (from birth), Fibro/CFS (since age 13...ouch), severe IC, IBS-D, severe PFD (surgery made it even worse), vulvodynia, hiatal hernia, GERD, ulcers, severe gastritis, numbness/tingling in extremeties, pelvic nerve damage--mainly urethral, urinary retention, pelvic reconstruction 7.10.07 (fixed rectocele, rectal prolapse, lifted bladder, urethra, uterus, and repaired vaginal walls), Raynaud's, 2 severely herniated discs in neck and one in low back, anemia, PCOS, anxiety/depression/panic attacks (since forever). Still having major bowel problems (inability to empty rectum...any ideas?? ).

Tried and failed: Elavil, Ultram, Prosed DS, Benadryl, Bentyl, Valium, Ativan, Zanaflex, Librax, Sanctura (all caused retention among other things), bladder instills (owwwwww!), Elmiron (allergic-throat tightening). Failed Interstim-no feeling in sacral nerves...

hi there,
actually the rice pasta i've tried is pretty decent - it's pasta joy i believe. pretty good.
i loooooooove the foods from enjoy life. AWESOME!
the bread i've tried is tapioca loaf from en r g...not too great, but i've read some good stuff about pamela's bread mixes so i'll try those next. en r g pretzels were okay but i miss my herr's thins...i was a BIIIIIIIIIG pretzel fan.
also, for breakfast i've tried arrowmills rice & shine, as well as barbara's honey rice puffins - EXCELLENT! the r&s is okay, put a bit of whatever fruit you can tolerate in it and it's better lol.
let me know what foods you discover to be good!(Added by ICNMgrJill on 5/19/08. I am sad to share that Verdicries (aka Tracy) lost her life in a tragic accident just a few days ago. Celiac information
Please do yourself a favor and check out the celiac website for some invaluable information, celiac.com...I do not have celiac, but have a wheat and gluten sensitivity...I have been wheat and gluten free for about 2 years now...it has made the biggest difference of anything that I have tried so far...I eat all organic and nothing prepackaged with additives....Once you get to know it and get into it, it isn't that bad...If you have a Wegman's in your area, they carry many wheat and gluten free foods...Good luck......

Just told I may have a systemic yeast problem
Systemic yeast problems are thought by most physicians to only reside in patients who are immunocompromised - like patients who are having or have had chemotheropy or AIDS patients. However, I just saw a very well respected doctor in Knoxville (she's on the ICA's medical advisory board). Her name is Dr. Ragi Doggweiller. And after listening to what I had to say about my problems, how, they began, and so forth, she told me she thought I might have a systemic yeast problem. She has prescribed Nystatin for me. But unlike most doctors, she didn't stop with the prescription pad. She is developing a plan for me. She is setting me up with a physical therapist who knows about fibromyalgia and IC, etc. And she has told me she wants me to start something like Tai Chi, or Yog or even Pilates - something with no impact and very slow movement.
After doing a ton of reading on systemic yeast problems, I have put myself on a yeast free diet. I screwed up and ate a hot dog bun last night, and I've had some symptoms today. But all in all, I can see some results already.
I was having cramping in my stomach so bad I could hardly stand it, then I would have to run not walk to the bathroom with diahhrea. And all that was causing the IC to flare.
If you don't know about systemic yeast, plug in Candidiasis into a search engine and start reading. I think you will feel like you are reading about yourself. I'm not trying to sell anything, I'm just a believer because I think this multidisciplary approach has helped me more than anything, and I do believe I have a a systemic yeast problem. I have not had chemo, and I do not have AIDS, and I'm sure of that because I've been tested.
I hope this helps someone.

I have celiac. Diagnosed 20 years ago by biopsy. I have had IC for 24 years. It's not an easy diet. I also have Type 1 Diabetes.
If I can help let me know. Basically I try to eat meat, potato, veg. There are some great gluten free products for snacking but because of the diabetes I try not to eat them.

I was diagnosed with Celiac's Recently. I thought i was going to loss my mind with a more sensitive diet. It is SO HARD to eat the IC and gluten free diet. I still havent fully got the hang of it. The only thing i have eaten in almost 2 weeks is a plain potato. If anyone could help me out it would be WONDERFUL.

Have IBS & IC - Zantac is helping with pain!
This is my first posting. I've had IC for about 10 years and have generally done well, almost normal for a lot of the time with a few flares. I have food insensitivities to dairy and yeast and, to some extent, to wheat products. I was told at one point that I have a systemic yeast problem. I try to limit the amount of yeast I have, but find it very hard and generally eat a little pita bread each day, which seems a lot better than regular bread. When I was first diagnosed with IC (after a hernia repair in which the bladder was involved,) I started taking diflucan because I thougt it might help the IC as well as the yeast problem. And indeed the IC went into remission but the diflucan made my hair fall out so I stopped it. I did take hydroxyzine for a few months which may also have helped me get into remission. Then I started with cystoprotek and continued to do well except for a few flares Recently after a long period of stress I have had a big IC flare. I increased the cystoproted to 6 capsules a day but it didn't help. I tried elavil but that didn't help, just spaced me out. Now I am trying zantac - 150 mg. twice a day, and it is definitely helping with the pain. I don't know if it's because it's an antihistimine or antacid but it's really working. Sometimes I feel quite normal. So if you have IBS and food insensitivities and your main IC symptom is pain, you may want to try it.
Take Care and Good luck, Viv

Just to let you know, if you plan on being tested for gluten intolerance then you have to keep ingesting wheat/gluten. If you do the blood and biopsy after stopping wheat then it will always come back negative. The combo of things that brought me out of remission were artificial sweetners, liquid vitamins with citric acid, tight pants, lower body workouts and stopping all my allergy meds cold turkey during height of allergy season. I wish I knew back then what I know now about IC
First IC symptoms Spring of 2000; In-office cystoscopy 2002 -negative; Remission until 2007 (yeah!!); Negative PST spring of 2007; IC diagnosed via Cystoscopy and Hydrodistention 7/24/07; Another In-office cystoscopy 4/9/10 with biopsy showed inflammation
Treatments for my IC/PFD: Elmiron 400 mg per day; walking, Zyrtec, Claritin, Singulair, Neurontin 100 mg per day; Ice packs and laying down; About to try Cytotec
Tried and Failed: Heat (always makes me worse!), Heparin instills -too painful for my urethra; Atarax (interfered with my quality of sleep first time, second time dried my bladder out; Elavil makes me sick, lidocaine patches (just plain don't work), Cystoprotek (only tried a couple months but didn't seem to do much), Aloe Vera caps, pelvic floor therapy, trigger point work flared me worse, Lyrica (bad stomach pain)
Other Diagnoses: PFD 2009; Fibromyalgia 2006, Osteopenia 2012, GERD 2006, Gastroparesis (delayed gastric emptying) Anxiety: Other medications: Ambien, Dexilant, Ibuprofren, Necon 1/35, Voltaren gel for tailbone

a coworker of mine has both as well and we talked about her diet the other day - her osteopath had her cut out wheat and gluten and it's made a big difference to her...i can not give up those things as i'm pregnant and craving bread a lot! but it's not a problem for me either as it is for many..
