    Proctitis

I have been havin colon issues as well. I just had a colonscopy done on Tuesday and the doctor called me today and told me that I had Proctitis. I never heard of this but when I looked it up an was reading about it it says it can be caused by inflammotory bowel. I called the doctors office back and told them that I was just recently dignosed with IC and that I know that all these things can go hand and hand, and is it possible that I have inflammotory bowel. The nurse told me that it could be possible, but she could not answer that question I had to ask the doctor that when I see him. But that I needed to tell the Urogloist and see what he thinks also and when I have me appointment with the doctor who did my colonscopy to discuss it with him and see if both doctors are on the same page. I was just wondering if anyone else has this, or has been dignosed with the proctitis?

    Thanks,
    Beverly

I was just told I have FAP, 100 polyps were found and my colon must be removed asap. I am having a VERY hard time dealing with this. They also found a 1cm brain tumor forming that might be related to this rare genetic crap I have that am the first of my family to get.

They won't know until they open me up if they can do a jpouch. Do you have a bag ? How is your IC doing? I am terrified my bladder will be horrible.

    UC and IC

I had great success with elmiron for about 4 years and then the stomach aches and diarrhea which I tolerated for some time until it aggrevated the UC and the advantage was not there anymore. UC diet and IC diet leaves a person not a lot of options. Diary flares my UC, however I take prelief with everything, so I do get some calcuim. No meds tolerable for UC just diet and take all the regular meds for IC, but the elmiron was still the best help from my expereince. I take some pain meds, and have been doing a little research on medical cannabis pill form, which has benefited some with IC. Looking at ingredients for some pain meds there is some acid in them which I think can be detrimental. I thinking the cannabis pill cessemet might be more effective, less acidic and also for people with anxiety problems, perhaps would help on two fronts. Anyone care to comment on this topic. I do know one person that was on cessment for pain (not IC) and said it was very effective.

Another no removal, but I do have IBS and UC. After a long struggle, my UC is, thankfully, in remission. IBS is still very much a problem. I ended up having to give up Elmiron which I had taken for years and which helped my IC tremendously. A few months after stopping Elmiron I achieved the UC remission. My UC was fairly mild and uc meds did little for it. I manage my IC now with diet, other meds and PT.

    managing UColitius and IC

I have had Ulcerated Colitus and IC for many years. This last year my Colitus has been worse and my problem is the prescribed medicine which is 5-ASA compounds, such as asacol and pentasa. They do work for my UC but they flare the bladder. My triggers for IC are mainly acid and salt and ASA is aminosalicylic acid which is a trigger for me. I was wondering Hannah during your ordeal with UC what meds you took for UC and what was the effect on your bladder? Anyone else with this problem?
