Hi,
Not sure this goes here, but anyway....
I had an interesting, though not particularly fun, test yesterday called a dynamic MRI of the pelvis.
The test uses a regular, closed,(arrrrgh), MRI. First the tech, very, very nice woman(has to be a woman, as you shall see), just takes some normal MRI pics of the pelvis. No muss, no fuss. Then comes, as she put it, the patient participation part. She put some ultra sound gel into my rectum using an enema tube and then said, okay, now push it out. The MRI scans during pushing, and is therefore able to see how the muscles are working, how prolpases are changing with pushing, etc. It's meant to diagnose prolapse and pelvic floor problems. It wasn't fun since you have to push with all your might, as she said, make believe you're pushing out a baby, while lying in that tube. Of course, other things come out along with the gel(sorry), but this woman was so nice, she made me feel totaly comfortable with that. The whole thing took about 20 minutes, so not as terrible as I expected it to be. After the test, into the bathroom, where the most of the remaining gel came out.
I'm kind of crampy today, but that's all.
Another interesting thing, from the "I don't get it" category. I expected that my bladder would have a fit from all the pushing, or that my cystocele would fall out(!), but, after I got home, I had one of the best pees I've had in ages. A huge, full stream that came out with no effort. What the heck? Is ultra sound gel the secret?!
Anywho, just thought I would share the experience.
Tomorrow, instill. Monday I had a root canal. This is getting silly!
