  • Help with constipation?

Hi I'm new to this board - I've suffered from chronic constipation for years - possibly due to the antidepressants I take. I have just started using Heather's acacia soluble fibre tummy poweders - gradually building up the dose.
My problem is, if I don't take a laxative - senna, bisacodyl (ducolax) etc. i just don't go. Is it dangerous not to go at all for some time? I know I shouldn't use laxatives regularly but I feel trapped!
    Any advice from anyone?
    Many thanks!

    Re: Help with constipation?

My urologist recommended Colace to help after several rounds of antibiotics. It really helped me get back on track but I didn't need to take it for very long.

It definitely is not a good thing to not go.

I also eat Kashi Blueberry cluster cereal. It is very good for helping increase fiber intake.

Please talk with your doctor about your constipation problem. I am on full time pain medications and it's one side effect I constantly have to battle. I take a stool softener plus Miralax, which shouldn't be taken for long periods without consulting a physician.
